What else do u do besides fantasy football?

Recommended Posts

Fantasy football is nearly perfect for me in terms of time commitment, social engagement, and increasing viewing pleasure of games.

I'm curious what alternatives are out there that fill that void just the same. I'll gamble on games with friends occasionally, but that feels more like a cheap thrill. Other fantasy sports seem to have too many games and teams/players. What else do you enjoy related to the NFL? What about the off season?

espn streak for the cash

This. Have a group of 18 guys. We each throw in $5 a month. The team with the longest streak (threshold is 12 in a row) wins the pot. If nobody hits 12 in a row, the pot carries over to the next month. I won $650 this past June.

We also have "fundraising" events throughout the year for our fantasy league. Poker tourneys, cornhole tournaments etc.. A portion of the proceeds go back to our league.

Lots of farting and Call of Duty

I find ghosts very difficult. The past few cods I have carried a 1.7 kd or better. I can barely carry a 1.25 and dont seem to be getting much better.

Beer and collecting Hot Wheels, takes more time than FF does!

Wow, we got some weirdos here.

I only hope the Lord chaser and Hot wheels collector aren't anywhere near my neighborhood when my kids get off the school bus.

Fantasy golf starts in a few weeks, so I got that going for me. It's pretty lame, but gives you something to keep an interest in 4 days a week for 8 months.

Other than that, I'll pretty much be sitting in a dark room, staring at a wall, and pondering why Shane Vereen and Jimmy Graham destroyed my championship aspirations. I will also write 1000 times on the wall 'I will never draft Ray Rice again.'

What strategies are used for fantasy golf? Or do u just ride the same players all year?

Fantasy golf. We have an 8 man league. We have a draft around New Years, and have like 15 roster spots. We ride the same guys all year, although we used to charge like $5 to add/drop someone. But that was apparently 'too much' work for the dude that runs it.

It's all based on top 10 finishes: 60pts for a win, 45pts for 2nd, 40 for 3rd, 35 for 4th, etc. Get an extra 10pts for the Majors. Like I said, not all that exciting, and not much strategy except on draft day. But it's another way to donate my money.

I host a public television series called "The Joy of Painting". If you have some time, please check it out.
