Better to lose your composure than your integrity.

You Patriots fans should stock up on mouth wash and lip balm. Oh and knee pads.

just slap a hefty fine on him and the team and move on

Again, why would that deter further cheating? Money means nothing to him. Punishment needs to hurt for it to have the desired effect.

It game Brady a better feel sure . Do all or most QB do or have done the same thing I'm sure it as happens . Can't wait to get this behind us is so important . They need to change this rule and Now . Dont need for Murf to lose anymore sleep over this situation.

Patriots are either caught 100% of time they attempt to cheat or pretty much cheat all the time and eventually get caught? I guarantee they have not been caught 100 % of the time

meh, teams are always looking for the advantage and sometimes cross the line

it really is a stupid rule that needs to be changed and it's not an infraction that deems a huge penalty, but the nfl is run by a bunch of a-holes that love to make a mess of everything, so this has become equal to the jfk murder conspiracy

Nope, not close. This has been a nice brohaha for sure, but not close to the conspiracy theories, films, books, etc that happened as a result of the JFK assassination.

Brady and the Pats have cheated, multiple times on record now. I think he gets 4 games, reduced to 2 after appeal. And that is fair and/or just considering he obstructed the investigation and lied repeatedly. As for BB and the Pats - well idk what is appropriate. I've got a really hard time trying to believe that BB did not know about Tom's foolery with the ball boys. The trading of autographed material, the sneaky texts - that stuff I can believe BB didn't know about. But the coordinated effort of 3 + people to systematically deflate balls to Tom's liking simply cannot have gone on directly under BBs nose without him understanding what was going on.

Plausible deniability didn't net Sean Payton any slack, why should it get Bill off scot free? Sit em all down for 4 games.

Heads firmly buried in ground or up Tom's azz. Yep, the Patriot way. :overhead:

So true :) Denial is the first stage fellas. You'll get through the rest of them one day hopefully. Ah who am I kidding, they're going to be stuck here forever!

bounty gate was a horrible thing that involved injuring other players

this involved 2psi of air

i know the rule was broken and the pats should be punished, but it's a stupid rule that should have a sliding scale to accommodate various qb grip size

hating the pats is the sexy thing right now so anything goes

no doubt, but the punishment should fit the crime and it should be a hefty fine, not suspension

It's absurd to believe he doesn't deserve suspension for cheating and not cooperating with the investigation. Just cause Pats got slap on rist last time doesn't mean they always will.

i just think that the punishment should fit the crime and this crime was bordering on minutia

It is likely Brady will not be penalized for having his balls deflated. Sorry had to do it.

It is most likely he will be penalized for conduct unbecoming whatever NFL morality clause that may exist for deceiving the league about his knowledge in the event. I see no reason not to believe the account of the equipment guys.

I find it interesting how pre October 5, he was a sub 250 guy to becoming a over 250 guy for the remaining season. It is highly believable his confidence was down at that point. Furthermore, that perhaps he saw history repeating itself with his own entry into the NFL. That being Bledsoe sub par performance giving Brady entry into that job.

And if he had been a man instead of lying baby and just admitted it I would agree with you that a fine would have been an appropriate penalty. This rule he broke is not the reason he's gonna catch this suspension, the lying and hindering the investigation is.

I've long been skeptical that Brady and/or the Patriots brass (Belichick or Kraft) would get anything more than a slap on the wrist for this.

Money rules the world. The Patriots have two nationally televised games in the first four games (Pitt and Dallas). CBS stands to lose a lot as does NBC.

Additionally, how can the NFL justify to the public (the casual to non-existant NFL fan) that "more likely than not" is worse than punching your girlfriend in an elevator(2 games). Roger Goodell is in a lose-lose situation here.

Brady will get 2 games max. The NFLPA is going to take this to litigation in the biggest way. I think the organization gets the brunt of the punishment. $500,000 fine, a 2nd rounder, and a tsk-tsk lashing with the wet noodle.

One deals with personal conduct away from game and one deals with NFL employee conduct during game and during investigation

Lifetime ban for Bellicheat. Death by stoning for Brady. I think that's fair after already getting caught cheating once

The problem is the casual to non-existant fan doesn't delve that far into the rules. They see discipline as discipline. And its those people that caused the Ray Rice situation to be so heavily scrutinized.

If/When Brady is suspended for more than those two games, one of the most overused phrases you'll see is:

So you get two games for knocking out a woman, but ____ for "more likely than not" knowing about someone else deflating footballs?

Nah Fans have low tolerance for deliberate cheating. Bell got 3 games for one occurance of small personal amount of weed and driving. ADP got an entire year and so did Rice basically has been banned

Goodell's reign has been a stumbling, bumbling comedy of errors. He's basically a maniacal dictator - making and enforcing his own rules along the way.... If he goes soft on Tommy - it will expose and exaggerate his relationship with B. Kraft, and validate what everyone already suspects - that Goodell is indeed sucking Kraft's cack......... Suspension is necessary.

That anyone thinks that Belichick didn't know about the deflated balls is laughable. There's nothing (especially underhanded) that happens on that field that he didn't authorize. Satan knows all evil. BB deserves a suspension as well and the Pats should lose MULTIPLE draft picks for once again cheating.

Brady did not cooperate with the investigation, apparently thinking he was above reproach. He must have also thought the guy he was in communication with would be smarter than to put anything in writing. The attempt at cover up is the part that's going to get his cheating a$$ suspended. I'm putting my money on 4 games but he should be gone for at least 8 games. It did affect the outcome of games or else he wouldn't do it. PERIOD.

Also, the NFL should make both teams use the same ball and be done with it.

Remember one of the early BB press conferences where he was ask about the deflated ball issue...his exact comment. "GO ASK BRADY."

Now we know why he said that.

if this is how the nfl is run (suspensions doled out to cover up owner/commissioner relationship) then we're all in trouble

I called the 4 games. Ez

this league is a focking joke

NFL suspended Patriots QB Tom Brady four games for his role in DeflateGate.

The league has also stripped New England of its 2016 first-round pick and a fourth-rounder in 2017, in addition to fining the franchise $1 million. It's an incredibly steep punishment for the organization. Brady figures to appeal his ban, which could result in a reduction to two or three games. Keep in mind the same league suspended Ray Rice two games for punching out his fiancee in an elevator. If Brady's suspension stands at four weeks, he will miss games against the Steelers, Bills, Jaguars, and Cowboys before returning in Week 6 against the Colts. The Patriots have a Week 4 bye. 2014 preseason star Jimmy Garoppolo will open the season as New England's starting quarterback.

Regarding Rice the league popped the exempt list and effectively banned him for a year. Don't bullhsit like he only got two games. As soon as the video surfaced Goody went scorch the earth on him. Same for AP. Rice got 2 games because he's been a pillar of community involvement, a consummate pro and his wife testified to the Rog about his character. It was an orchestrated and calculated move on the Ravens. But after the uproar over 2 games someone leaked the vid and the rest was history.

I expected and called the 4 games for Brady. Didn't expect the cool million and first/5th round picks though.

Doubt this would have been so severe if there wasn't a track record of cheating going on in NE.

Brady appeals, gets reduced to 2 games. Pats then go on to dominate the AFC east (yet again, nice try tho BUF and MIA) using this discipline as motivation.

Then the Colts knock them out. With legally correct psi balls. ;)
