NFL: 11 of 12 Pat's balls under inflated.

Recommended Posts

Regardless of who did it and who knew... coach, QB, or ball boy, the organization is responsible. Penalty is forfeit 1st and 2nd round draft picks.

Next eliminate rule allowing teams to keep footballs. How did that ever get started? It's like letting pitchers keep the baseballs they want to throw.?.

Maybe if you say Eagles enough times, Goodell won't penalize the Patriots and Belichick. And people other than Pats fans will be impressed by this fraudulent 10 year run.

Bwahahahahaha

maybe if eagles fans cry enough the NFL will give them a sympathy Lombardi binky

The rule is to allow teams to adjust the ball inflation between the parameters set by the league. 12.5-13.5 pounds. Then the refs inspect them to make sure they are within the rules. It's easier for the teams to keep track of their own balls than to have to make the officials do it. Unfortunately, the league didn't take into consideration that there would be one team who didn't think the rules apply to them. Again. So now they'll likely have to change how it's handled.

Pats had a higher winning % in the period after spygate than before... They dominated the game more in the second half than the first when they were 'fraudulently' benefiting There are zero facts out there, and as these things go, in the absence of facts you have idiots just spouting their hate.

until you know what happened you just set yourself up to look foolish

Just a stupid sideshow story all around. Totally detracts from the buildup to the big game too. Way to go NFL

Wouldn't be surprised if it is one of the top 3 most watched SBs ever.

First.....great matchup with the two best teams from 2014.

Secondly..... great backstory with these two teams....one team on the verge of a dynasty, one trying to tie a bow on theirs. Kraft hiring both coaches.....the whole You Mad Bro stuff.

Thirdly....the causal fan can root for/against the Pats. Most women will watch the stupid game because of Brady.

Fourthly....the NFL is loving all this media attention. Loving it. Without this story, we'd be talking about Marc Trestman or Gary Kubiak or Gronk's sexploits. There isn't another story the NFL could drum up that engages nearly all of the American public to some degree. It's huge for the first week before the SB.

Seriously.....when Pat fans say crap like this they seem overly defensive. This is great for the NFL and its eventually going to be nothing but a side note for the Pats as I doubt anything comes from this.

I see. I suppose the point of that was to increase scoring/excitement/ratings.

You'd think fairness and integrity would be more important, but I guess not.

Goodell will make sure the investigation isn't concluded until after the game.

No way. They have to bury it before next week or they'll ruin their own title game (if they haven't already with this ridiculous garbage).

Maaaybe they do some kind of "provisional finding" or some such that could be revised later but I don't see that working

So you're saying the NFL is perpetuating this garbage for ratings/exposure?

I can believe that.

Also they've avoided the whole violence against women and children thing that might've somehow reared its ugly head. The concussion issue too.

But it seems a dangerous game to play - undermining the credibility of one the teams playing in the title game to drum up interest for that game?

If fairness and integrity mattered you would get banished for life for PEDs... Not allowed to hulk up to 300lbs running a 4.5 40, then sit out 4 games and play.

Did the NFL force the Cheatriots to cheat?

Wow! still trying to blame the NFL for your team's cheating. Amazing.

Fastow is still alive working as a paralegal for the law firm that defended him.

Getting less and less incredible with each fact we learn

One of the things you learn when you are a winner is to keep focus on the task at hand. The world is full losers who hope you join their ranks. Have to keep the focus, the desire, and the determination to consistently achieve greatness. And we all know the Patriots define greatness

Franchise Value at time of Kraft purchase (1994): 172 million

Current Value (Forbes, 8/2014): 2.6 Billion

And this is BEFORE another notch in the dynasty belt....

What does this have to do with the OP? All the NFL teams have done this the past 20 years due to the popularity of the sport. The Washington Redskins are worth 2.4 Billion for crying out loud.

At least the name would get to stay with the city, along with the *records; i doubt the peeps in England would be receptive to the team being called "patriots".

John Madden points to Timmy.

Former NFL coach John Madden, who won Super Bowl XI with the Raiders, said quarterback Tom Brady should be held responsible in the case of the deflated footballs.

“[Deflating the footballs] would have to be driven by the quarterback,” he told The Sports Xchange on Wednesday. “That’s something that wouldn’t be driven by a coach or just the equipment guy. Nobody, not even the head coach, would do anything to the football unilaterally, such as adjust the amount of pressure in a ball, without the quarterback not knowing. It would have to be the quarterback’s idea.”

I'm beginning to see a pattern........

Did Ravens tip off Colts about Patriots deflating balls?

The latest twist in deflate-gate might give you a hint that the rest of the NFL isn't too fond of the New England Patriots.

According to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports, the Indianapolis Colts were tipped off by the Baltimore Ravens before the AFC championship game about the Patriots possibly altering the air pressure in their footballs. The Ravens lost to the Patriots in a divisional playoff game the week before.

Two things stand out about that report: If true, the Ravens were obviously pretty angry to tip off the Patriots' next opponent, and this would mean it's more than a one-game situation in New England. Unless it's a crazy coincidence that the Ravens assumed the Patriots' game balls were under-inflated when they weren't, told the Colts their hunch, and the championship game happened to be the game in which 11 of the 12 Patriots' game balls were flatter than usual. Of the Patriots' 12 game balls, 11 each had two pounds per square inch less than NFL rules stipulate, as ESPN reported Tuesday.

Glazer's story said the officials were planning to inspect the balls at halftime, based on the Ravens' tip. It was reported by other outlets that the Colts noticed the issue when linebacker D'Qwell Jackson caught an interception in the second quarter. It could be both.

There was another story, from ESPN's Adam Schefter, that the Colts thought the Patriots had also under-inflated footballs during a regular-season meeting on Nov. 16. According to Schefter, Colts safety Mike Adams had two interceptions, and gave both balls to the Colts' equipment manager to save. Both times, sources told Schefter, there were concerns the balls were under-inflated.

All three things could be independently true. The Colts could have noticed the issue on Nov. 16. The Ravens could have noticed it during their playoff loss and told the Colts. And Jackson could have noticed it too on Sunday, even before the officials got a chance to inspect the balls at halftime (that part of the story makes it even stranger that the officials didn't do anything in the first half, constantly handling the footballs that were reportedly 16 percent or so flatter than league rules allow).

And if all the reports are accurate, and the Ravens noticed it, and the Colts noticed it in two separate games, who else in the NFL noticed it during the season?
