parrot 790 Posted July 8, 2015 As a Minority I can say anything I want to about White people but you can't do the same. All of my problems are your fault not mine. You give me all kinds of advantages and special treatment because you feel so guilty. I love this country! I think you are one of the White Morons my friend. It's like you come in here trying to prove how stupid you are when no one is arguing that with you in the first place.

Well not the part about the mental problem as to you; that's RLLD only. I don't think you have a mental problem but I do think you aren't particularly thoughtful and lack testicular fortitude. We need a good discussion about race in this country. I agree with you. It's very hard to do in this environment when all sides are not having the debates needed because of both factions accusing the other of not understanding the other. The powers that be do not want a serious conversation to resolve it. They want us divided. And they win and we lose.

Preemie, you endure a lot of mockery and a abuse around here. So I'm going to do you the respect of discussing the topic civilly with you. No jokes, no bullsh!t. Martin Luther king's dream was a world where color did not exist. Where men are judged by the content of their character, not the color of his skin. That is a noble goal, and I support any stride in that direction. Are we there yet? No. Will we be in our lifetimes? Doubtful. But my god, look at the progress that has been made! Fifty years ago, blacks couldn't eat at a lunch counter. Today, we have a black Supreme Court justice ruling on the actions of a black president. I genuinely feel that the majority of the population, the vast majority, honestly is indignant about honest to god racism and unfair practices. I honestly believe most people in this country do not use race as a factor while judging individuals. But you do not get closer to a colorblind society by implementing racial quotas in colleges. You do not get closer by creating a society that rewards victimhood. White people, who are genuinely not racist, are tired of constantly being blamed for the actions of their grandparents and great grandparents. It's time for people to stand up. I will strongly support anyone who attempts to thwart any attempts to stop them.

naomi 361 Posted July 9, 2015 Seems to me in America, being privlidged has less to do with race and more to do with "class". Of course I don't look at everything in life through a prism of race. I'm looking at my sons 1st grade public school classroom. It's a mixed bag of Whites, Blacks, Mexicans, a couple Indian and Asians. Each of those kids has an equal chance to succeed if they do well in school. There are no hurdles for none of those kids if they try hard in school. The only hurdles are the ones they may have to get over at home if the parents don't do their jobs. Learning about your privilege calls for a proper dissection of the hurdles and prejudices facing those with non-privileged status, things that naturally won't come to your mind. And more than that, it's not just about what you don't have to put up with, it's enjoying the benefit of the doubt toward positive traits you may or may not actually possess. You're trustworthy, you're intelligent before proven otherwise. A black man, a woman in general, there's a myriad of subtle ways it's reinforced to you that you're starting from being in the hole, perceptually. In seriousness (was trying to get a devil's advocate conversation going with that post), this MTV show reminds me of this talk.

Baker Boy 1,711 Posted July 9, 2015 ANGELES (AP) – The long-expected moment when Latinos surpassed whites as California's largest racial or ethnic group has come and gone. Hispanic Californians began to narrowly outnumber white Californians sometime in the first half of 2014, according to U.S. Census Bureau figures released in late June. The state had some 14.99 million Latinos compared with about 14.92 million non-Hispanic whites as of July 1, 2014, the most recent data available. Together, the two groups make up nearly 80 percent of the state's population. http://latino.foxnews.com/latino/lifestyle/2015/07/09/in-long-predicted-shift-california-latinos-outnumber-whites/

Does anybody have crib notes explaining why the OJ jury decision made perfect sense? I'm having trouble coming up with talking points. Thanks. That is a lie! You do not get extra SAT points for being a minority, an outright lie! (Or I'm dumb as hell, lol!) Europeans invented, cured, discovered, explored and explained EVERYTHING worthwhile?? How are you living in China and let those words even enter your brain? Yes, Europe since the 1500's has provided the world with a great many things, but prior to that...??? Hmm, not so much happening in comparison to other countries. Plenty of other groups have explored and settled...hence the world population not all located within the African continent!!! How stupid to say whites discovered lands that had people living on them! The people living there got there before the Europeans!! They discovered it first! Duh!! Some white people did bad things a long time ago? How long is a long time ago?? Cause I'd say apartheid, Jim Crow, the Holocaust, WWII, WWI, The Trans-Atlantic Slave trade...what happened to all of the natives that lived in the Americas and in the Caribbean? Who killed them?? I'll explain the OJ verdict after you explain the Rodney King verdict and follow it up by the Zimmerman verdict. As long as you want to shut down the conversation by claiming that blacks are whiny complainers then there is no chance for you to learn, understand or even see the impediments that continue to plague many African Americans. ...and that doesn't mean that all the fault lies on the shoulders of white America from now until perpetuity. That does not mean there shouldn't be harsh and severe criticism laid on the steps of black American culture. Both conversations need to happen. The bottom line is that whether or not you like blacks, respect blacks or wish they'd all go away, we're here and it would help matters if we could learn to see each other in an honest light. The news media and entertainment has greatly skewed who we all are, imo.

People who like to tell racist jokes? A lot, including most of us here. People who avoid black neighborhoods and make sure their car door is locked when a thuggish looking black guy walks by? Most white people honestly. And honestly, at this point, the "movement" often hurts the cause. Here is an example. As a white male, an employer takes almost no risk hiring me. I I suck, he can cut me loose immediately with no consequences. A black woman on the other hand? Well now he's afraid to hire her, because she's very hard to get rid of if it doesn't work out.
