lod001 1,344 Posted January 24, 2022 Based on Monday’s bitcoin prices, and assuming that Beckham put the entire $750,000 in bitcoin when the deal was made in November, his salary would now be worth about $401,500. Despite the drop in value for Beckham’s salary, he will still have to pay taxes on his income as it was given to him, at the $750,000 value. MWAHAAHHAAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!! Now that is a crypto buttfockin right there. Get $750k, pay taxes on it, then find out its only $401k.

nobody 2,672 Posted February 13, 2022 If your intent is to imply that bitcoins n skeptics are not here because Bitcoin has regained some value, to be fair, when Bitcoin dropped from 69k to 43k or whatever it was at the time, it was frozenbeernuts, Bitcoin-truther and frequent predictor that Bitcoin was going to 100k by the end of last year, that came brought the thread back to life. He likely did that because he was feeling anxiety about his investment and wanted to argue with people in order to vent. I don't think you guys haven't realized what you started here, though. Bitcoin will never be a viable currency, and even if it did, governments would crush it and replace it with a national cryptocurrency. You'll say they can't because of decentralization, but all you have to do is prohibit vendors from taking it (not to mention all the features that made Bitcoin appealing are being tossed to make it scalable). So all you guys have done is advance the ability of governments to have visibility and control over ever transaction you make which essentially means they'll have the means to control everything we do. What do you think they'll do with that power? Has a government ever wielded power well?

I'm on record saying governments will make their own stable coins and some already have (china) and I've pointed out the dangers in that action. You do have a good point and one I've agred a lot on this forum. The government loves when criminals use bitcoin.

vomit 502 Posted February 14, 2022 Yeah that frozenbeernuts guy has no idea what he's doing, and he keeps repeating that we just don't understand it. That is a classic line in ponzi schemes. The mooks on the bottom are sold the great idea, and they are told to tell skeptics that they just don't understand why it's so awesome, in an effort to get them to join in. Also, I think it was him that always talked about how awesome Michael Saylor is and El Salvador is. Saylor finally admits it's not a currency. I've been saying this forever. It's a speculative asset. 9. "Bitcoin is not competing with the dollar. It's not a currency." — Noting the definition of a currency is it can be used as a medium of exchange without a taxable event. 10. "'Cryptocurrency' is the worst term, because legally, it's not a currency. 'Crypto money' is an intellectual term, but the problem is most people equate money with currency, and so they come down to the same cognitive traps. 'Crypto property' is much better." https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/currencies/michael-saylor-bitcoin-blockchain-cryptocurrency-money-inflation-investing-microstrategy-currency-2022-
