(OFFICIAL) *****70's Music Draft***** LOD UP

For me there have already been about 5-7 WTF picks, but I've kept my mouth shut to some degree. :D

I do love that song, but probably shouldn't have picked it, it's not my style though I have enjoyed it many times.

Don't keep your mouth shut. Trash talking is half the fun. I loved your #3 pick. You have time to turn things around.

3:15 More than a Feeling - Boston

4:01 Carry on Wayward Son - Kansas

Blow me, those were both on my list, was leaning Wayward Son. Thought about grabbing it at 3.12.

Boston will always be close to my heart because Tom Scholz went to MIT.

Tom Scholz first started writing music in 1969 while he was attending Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he wrote an instrumental, titled "Foreplay".[4] While attending MIT, Scholz joined the band Freehold, where he met guitarist Barry Goudreau and drummer Jim Masdea,[5] who would later become members of Boston. Vocalist Brad Delp was added to the collective in 1970. After graduating with a master's degree,[6] Scholz worked for Polaroid, where he used his salary to build a recording studio in his basement, and to finance demo tapes recorded in professional recording studios.[4] These early demo tapes were recorded with (at various times) Delp on vocals, Goudreau on guitar, Masdea on drums, and Scholz on guitar, bass and keyboards. The demo tapes were sent to record companies, but received consistent rejections.[4] In 1973 Scholz formed the band Mother's Milk with Delp, Goudreau, and Masdea.[4] That group disbanded by 1974, but Scholz subsequently worked with Masdea and Delp to produce six new demos, including "More Than a Feeling", "Peace of Mind", "Rock and Roll Band", "Something About You" (then entitled "Life Isn't Easy"), "Hitch a Ride" (then entitled "San Francisco Day"), and "Don't Be Afraid". Scholz stated they finished four of the six by the end of 1974, and they finished "More Than a Feeling" and "Something About You" in 1975.[7][8] Scholz played all the instruments on the demos, except for the drums, which were played by Masdea, and used self-designed pedals to create the desired guitar sound.[4] The violin-like sound of the guitars was created in the early 1970s by Scholz

Although Petty would never make my personal play list, that is a solid pick at this point.

5 point and Cruiser with 2 good picks. This is where the draft is going to get fun, now that we have the "Don't really want them but have to pick them" songs out of the way.

4.02 Slow Ride - Foghat

Definitely on my list. One of my fondest memories is playing Guitar Hero when my daughter was maybe 4 or 5 and her attempting to sing this. I'm smiling just thinking about it.

Agreed a lot of good songs. Looks like some like-minded people at this end of the draft, should get fun. :D

Are we upping it to at least 25 rounds?

I'm well over 50 on my list and that is not even close to the number of songs I like. Probably 80% of the songs picked are not on my list (mainly because I knew they were going to get picked by someone while I picked my favs) but are still great tunes. I think there's only two I've never heard before and 2 that I know but never even knew the name of them.

If not everyone wants to extend it, there are plenty of us that would be willing to take over a team after the 15 rounds.

I've been listening to a 70's station on Pandora the last few days...I forgot what I had been missing over the last 10+ years. 70's and 80's music over the last few weeks has been great.

Oh man, doesn't matter to me.... Just might be easier on the voters to keep it smaller rather than big. :dunno:

I'll try Pandora on the Echo. I tried 70's on Amazon music and it's been terrible.

Idk..I just thought that was the whole basis for the draft to begin with, no?

Meh, I don't expect to make it out of the first round of voting. My picks are too eclectic to garner enough votes. That's why I need more of them. :D
