The thought of eating a pumpkin disgusts me. They are meant to be carved.

wiffleball 4,645 Posted September 16, 2018 forgot about black forest cake I'm so sick of this PC bullshiit. We can't even call it a housing project anymore? Now it's a magical "black forest!"

Sogo sweet potato. It's a little more substantial and a definite upgrade from pumpkin.
wiffleball 4,645 Posted September 16, 2018 Since I started the thread, I guess I should weigh in. Pretty much bread pudding. Mostly because there's so much you can do with it. Bananas Foster bread pudding is freaking amazing. And, if you like creme brulee, you're basically saying you like custard. And what is custard but basically bread pudding. You need just the right mix or you just got stale bread on top. But when it's done right with a warm caramel or boubon or vanilla sauce or whatever, it's freaking amazing. The ultimate comfort food. Just a little bit Savory not sickly-sweet. Big fan.
Djgb13 2,338 Posted September 16, 2018 Both sweet potatoe and pumpkin pie are delicious. Of course they taste 1000X better when you get the sweet potatoes or pumpkins from a local farm. Then, you can use the pumpkin seeds and put some brown sugar and cinnamon on them and roast them. Dam good eatin

wiffleball 4,645 Posted September 16, 2018 Pumpkin pie is delicious. NY cheese cake is the suck. Well then, you probably hate the cheesecake they sell that has pumpkin on the bottom layer and cheesecake on the top. It's actually freaking delicious. But yeah, if I'm given the choice between pumpkin and pecan? It's pecan all the time.

And cakes/pies with just a thin layer of cheesecake are OK. But the uber dense/thick, NY style is too much.

Sho Nuff 719 Posted September 17, 2018 Hard to beat a really good cheesecake. My step dads mother made incredible peanut butter cookies and what she called black bottom cupcakes (chocolate cupcakes with a cream cheese and chocolate chip swirl in them...amazing and gets my cheesecake craving) My dads loved making cookies...they were simple and delicious and we made some today as it marked 3 years since he passed and he always made them with my kids when they visited. Mom and my step dads cookie and chocolate tray at Christmas. Manderfields (Menasha and Appleton WI bakery) cherry chip cookies (also a favorite of my mom)

vuduchile 1,941 Posted September 17, 2018 The local casino has a ridiculously overpriced brunch with a pretty impressive assortment of desserts. Ive gotten the bread pudding there, which is good. But on my last visit I decided to ladle the bananas foster atop the bread pudding instead of the standard vanilla sauce. It was focking amazing! It led me to what I think might be the greatest dessert invention of all time Banana Bread Pudding! Stay tuned for a recipe.

Bier Meister 1,514 Posted September 17, 2018 Ok, but what if I actually made a banana bread, and used it for the bread pudding, then ladled bananas foster on top? i think it would be excellent. my wife makes a wonderful banana bread. prior to my professional cooking we used to make a blueberry/banana bread and use it for french toast. For my bread pudding, i use croissants edit: when i did the triple chocolate, I would sometimes make/use a chocolate chocolate chip pound cake for it
