Nike cancels American flag shoe after Kaepernick complains it’s racist

Oh Newbie. It's not a lie. It's an exaggeration of the type of guy you are. Always with the exaggerations. I don't think you have a Trans-Am for instance, but I think you're  the type of guy that would. I don't know your living situation for sure, but you act like the kind of guy who would claim you had a pool, not saying it's the condo community's pool.  Technically you would be truthful,  but not really. You don't know the first thing about cleaning or maintaining a pool. I can tell.

Big fan of your work since Newbies been back.

I think in this case Nike feels like this is a win, that society will be behind this. I think this might be a flawed approach. I think those who would be behind this are predominantly lower income and lower motivation, but not entirely of course.

20 years ago, college educated people leaned republican and those without a college degree leaned democrat.  That has completely flipped and TODAY college educated people lean democrat and those without a college degree lean republican.  That shift is part of the reason why a very populist candidate like Trump won the nomination.  Being a republican is more of a grass roots / blue collar / populist thing these days.

The entire rust belt is gonna turn republican in the next 10 years because that's the heart of the new GOP.  Trump just flipped it way early.

Folks on the right are not very good at holding these companies accountable, whereas leftists are really good at it.

Nike shares actually rose after the original formerQB excrement was used. So they have a reason to continue to exploit him, and the people that look at him as some kind of social champion.

The ONLY way Nike stops this nonsense is if there is an impact to their profit in a negative way.

What’s next? They ban bottles of Tylenol because picking the cotton out of a new bottle is racist?

Millennials trend red.  Red, of course, these days is centrist, pro U.S., pro jobs, pro constitution. It's all Trump. He did it. The Republican Party itself, is no different than the DNC.  The Republicans will lose momentum quickly, if they do not adopt Trump's philosophy of America first.

Is the anger at Kaepernick just about the kneeling?

For myself the anger is at Nike allowing someone to label a flag symbolic of early USA as racist and then acting on that opinion without really taking the time find out if in fact that is how the majority of Americans see it.

Kaeps just another example of a sad, self loather, whose daddy ran out and was ultimately raised by white people who weren't his parents.  Where have I heard this before? :dunno:

It's the obvious set up. The week of the 4th of July they cancel the Red White and Blue shoes because Kaepernick thinks it's racist. I get it that if they had just put the shoe out it would be a non story. But now it's in the news. Anytime Millionaires, (athletes, actors) whine about how unfair things are my response is STFU.

When you are young you are jealous of others. It frustrates you to see your family, friends and yourself not have things that others seem to have.  So when young people look around and see others with nice things, able to do fun things, etc....it frustrates them.  They assume this wealth is unearned, and that they should have similar things.  its part of being young and dumb.

Unfortunately, we have politicians that seek to exploit this factor.  One day these young folks may end up being successful themselves, and I have to wonder, will they be as willing to forego their own hard work for others?

Reality hits if/when they look at their first paycheck and realize how much of it goes up in smoke to govt waste.

They hate Megan Rapinoe too.  So it's not strictly because of racism against blacks. Gays qualify too.

I don't hate Megan rapinoe. Nor do I wish to see the US lose. But I don't respect her actions and think she is misguided. Fair enough?

Anger is a strong word.  But likely accurate for a certain swath of people.  Another word could be frustration, confusion, sadness, even contempt.....

While he can claim to protest police by kneeling, the purpose of that song at that event is to honor military vets, so from jump his protest is at best, misguided.

Now, if we want to accept his protest against the police, which is also misguided, then as much as he has a right to protest, we have the right to counter it....thats all really...

If some other idiot decided to stand up and protest firemen because too many black people die in fires, people should also rail against that.....its less the person so much as the glaring stupidity of that act.

Well at least you're not such a bigot that you're actually pulling against your own country in an international sporting event. So fair enough I suppose.

Yes yes, that's it

What's funny is she is doing exactly what you b!tch and moan about Trump doing with his 4th celebration plans.

She's using an event that should be celebrating this Country to promote her personal agenda

Thats not fair either. If she has grievences with the treatment of the gay community, fine. She has a platform of fame. There are countless ways, times, and places she can express that.

The national Anthem of the United States, when she is employed by the national team and wearing the jersey, is not about her. It's about the country. Using that for her political look at me moment is not appreciated by many, if not most, Americans.

I asked this question earlier but it never received a response:

If one of the pro-reparations candidates becomes Pres and then non-black players grandstand on the world stage in protest of that administration, then I suppose everyone that is applauding Rapinoe will just as strongly applaud those other athletes.  To denounce their right to protest would be hypocritical, would it not?

I think in this instance we are talking about him because a corporation (Nike) appears to be acting on his political ideology (not sure if this is even true really).  It seems as though Nike is intent upon exploiting him for the purpose of marketing, and each time they do this is reminds us of his stupidity.  So perhaps we can point to Nike 🤔

True or False....

Had Kaepernick not protested and failed all on his own (in the NFL), he'd be a nobody today.

She was looking at the flag like the rest of them. She wanted to bring attention to the plight of the gay community. And she did. Then proceeded to be the best player on the best team in the tournament. She saw how people reacted to Kaepernick and knew she could take advantage of the very same bigots to draw attention to her cause. She was right.

See personally, I find that distasteful. She's supposed to be there for the country. Her teammates. Not drawing attention to whatever cause that may be.

And yeah. She was right. But more than her cause, she attracted attention to herself. As she likely intended. Just another member of the look at me Instagram generation.

If I was one of her teammates, I'd be pissed.

See, being a minority of any sort means you can pretty much sh!t on anything as long as you have the shield of victim hood. And anyone who disagrees with you, whether that be your actual message, or merely the time place and manner in which you express it, is a bigot.

Welcome to the madhouse.

It's true. America so hates the gay community that the US dedicates an entire month and have parades for them.  Every corporation comes out with some kind of rainbow modification of their logos.  The plight is that it isn't year round.  The horror.

I haven't listened closely to her "message" but doesn't it really just boil down to her complaining about TRANS rights and not the run of the mill LGBs?

Thats one thing the left has perfected...all nuance is gone.  Its all or nothing.  They throw the baby right out with the bath water every time.
