New Yorker magazine staff writer Jane Mayer published a story Thursday citing people familiar with U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein's current situation as saying her apparent cognitive decline has been "evident for several years."

Those familiar with the California Democrat's current state told the New Yorker that Feinstein, 87, has been "seriously struggling" and that her short-term memory "has grown so poor that she often forgets she has been briefed on a topic, accusing her staff of failing to do so just after they have."

During a recent Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Big Tech, then-ranking member Feinstein asked Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey the same question twice. Dorsey answered the question the same way the second time she asked it.

87???    Mind blowing.   When my father was 87 it was obvious that he had lost his fast ball mentally.     The forgetfulness was the strongest symptom.    He'd ask me how one of my sons was doing in school.   Then 10 minutes later he would ask me again.    The thing that surprised me the most was the lack of self-awareness.   He really didn't know/realize how much he had slipped.   I think that is what happens with these politicians too.     Why would someone in the mid to late 80's still want to be doing this?

Agree with SCOTUS.   Just make it simple - max age is 80.    After that you have to go, even if you still have your fastball.    Or make them take a test:   You have to find a light bulb for your refrigerator, a roll of duct tape, a toilet seat, and a metric hex head bolt at a Home Depot or Lowes in 15 minutes or less.   If you can't do that without asking for help - you're out!   

Not sure that I agree with "both sides".   Feinstein is 87,  Pelosi is 80, Schumer is 70.   Biden is 78.    That's the leadership of the dems.   

On the right - Grassley is 87 but he seems OK (although I would agree - way past time to go there too).    Of the group that will be our next elected president, Hawley, Crenshaw, or Haley - Haley is the oldest at 48.    Yes, after the disaster that the Biden/Harris admin will be - one of those will be the next president.    For all those crying about Trump's loss, just remember that it does mean that it will be that much easier to win in 2024.    If there had been 4 more years of Trump, there would have been even more  Trump/repub fatigue and it would have been harder for repubs to win in 2024.    Now it will be just like the 2nd term of Obama - just a reminder why you don't want dems running anything.    Go sit at the kids table and let the adults get to work.

I was talking to a liberal friend and they threw out the racism thing.   I can't even remember what it was about but it was knee-jerk with no real basis.    My comment to him was that what liberals don't understand is that conservatives agree that all people are created equal.   Where the difference arises is that conservatives also recognize that a$$holes come in all colors/genders/sexual preferences too.   

And that is what it's all about.   There's a whole group of people who have been able to get away with horrible policies, representatives, actions, conduct, etc because when you call them out on it they yell "you are saying that because you hate; blacks, Hispanics, women, gays, trannies, single moms, Lutherans, furies, etc, etc., etc. . ." .    And people then leave them alone  and don't challenge them because they are afraid of those tags.     A true conservative says/thinks;  "no, it's because you are an a$$hole and what you are doing is stupid and I don't care what color/sex/who you want to sleep with you are".     

It's really what it is all about.    The true irony is that the least biased thing you could do/be is to treat people equally whether they are doing good or doing bad, regardless of their color/gender/sex preference.     One of the most important things a person can do these days is not to allow someone or a group to force them off of their stances and positions because they throw racist/sexist/homophobe tags at you.    That's the game they have been playing and they are looking like they are going to win if more people don't stand up.    This is how we have ended up in a world where literally the only group you can still criticize for its actions is white males.   Every other group can claim victimization and get its safe space.
