There aren't too many things worse than saying goodbye to a pet.

Recommended Posts

Eighteen years ago I went to the vet for one of Pliskin's (first cat/pet) routine visits and two cats conned me into to taking them home. These two little kitten were Ripley and Deckard(Deckard is on the left). I had to say goodbye to Ripley 7 months ago. Over the last month I've known that Deckard's time was coming.

Deckard loved being a wild card. She liked to jump on me when I was asleep, she loved chasing the red bug(laser, her favorite game), she was always the first to run to the door when I came home. Petting her was always a pain in the ass...she couldn't stay still! I would pet her and she would get super excited and move and walk farther and farther away, until I couldn't reach her----then she'd realize 'oh his arm isn't long' then she would enough, turn around, move closer so we could start the dance again.

The last month hasn't been great, but she made it to the food dish, she jumped on the couch, she made it to the bed...last few days she hasn't been able to do any of that. Today, she hasn't moved at all...

As a pet owner, I've always told myself that the first rule is that the pet has to be OK, happy & content..she isn't anymore and anything after this is unnatural and not right by her. Tomorrow I'm going to pet her for the last time and say goodbye.

Deckard is and always will be an awesome and funny cat...I'm sorry I gave you a boy's name(Rick Deckard- Blade Runner) since that confused everyone. You've been the most fun of any kitty I've known!!!!

It is.  :sadbanana:

We’ve all heard the quote but it’s true.

“Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened”

RIP Deckard

Sh!t. :(

Sorry Honcho. It never gets easy no matter how many times you have to do it. Those cats were as lucky to have you as you were to have them.

Sorry, man.  Deckard was a replicant, anyway.  Why no Roy Batty cat?

Every pet has been named after a movie character.

Rocky.

Pliskin(Escape from New York)---she had a black patch around her eye_

Ash---Evil Dead
Ripley-Aliens

Deckard-Blade Runner

Leelu---only 3---(The Fifth Element)

If I could go back 18 years, I would have named her 'Pris'.

I'm sorry man. That's incredibly tough. Just know that you gave her the very best life she could have had. You did that.

Sorry Bro and yes the worse. My last dog got sick at thanksgiving and was a pain to find someone that day to look at him. Got him look at but he died at home a few days later. The day before he manage to come up the steps on his own to hang out with me and basically spend our last time together. Sux and sorry!

Sucks. Having my old doggo out down in 2021 was hard. I kept thinking I should give him more time to get better. In hindsight I probably should’ve had him out to sleep sooner.

RIP cat. 🐱

Get another one. We put our best dog ever down last year. Now we got a new pup that's going to be even better.

And you're just a narcissistic moron. You'll have fewer people at your funeral than Lee Harvey Oswald.

It's really pathetic when I see young couples calling themselves dog or cat parents or furbabies. Go have a child and grow the fock up.

Rusty gets a pass because he's always been a wimp.

You support killing children. That's a special kind of apathetic sociopath.

No. Don't go have a child. Children of those parents turn out like rusty.

Wimpy liberal trolls.

What the fock is wrong with you; a guy's pet died and you are going out of your way to be a bigger ass than usual.  Just punch yourself in the face until you stop posting your drivel in this thread.  TIA.

. Sorry for loss Honcho.  It sucks but there are many things worse than losing a pet.  I'm happy for you that you haven't seen them.

I agree with you but the title is a little over the top.  ut99 should be ignored.

Deckards a cat!  She takes great pride in the fact that in 18 years she's never asked me to take her outside to poop

Yup. Dude just wants a response. We've all seen that 1000X.

How much Immaturity and lack of decency do you have  to have to sh it on a guy's loss of his pet?

Don't agree? Don't post.

Sorry for your loss.    I know what it is like and it really sucks.  I lost my dog last year unexpectedly at 3 years old and I walked passed her favorite toy an hour ago in the garage.  it still breaks me up every time I see it but I can not bring myself to get rid of it.
