Disney Board Urges Shareholders to Ignore Activist Investor

I have done some research, admittedly not enough....but I am rather tired this week....

I cannot yet determine what the "activism" at play here might be. My initial thought is that could this be Disney reacting to the negative outcomes from activism and is now trying to shield itself from the consequences of "woke"?

An "Activist Investor" is not the same as "Activism" in a political sense.  It just means an investor that wants to make changes in the company which it invests, think Active vs Passive.

So this investment firm Trian is looking to change the operations for Disney.  There is nothing about being "woke according to Trian's public statements.  Everything they talk about is operating decisions, increasing shareholder value.  Absolutely nothing about being woke, gay, movies not in Chinese theaters, or any of the other BS that gets thrown around here.

I've been to Disney several times, as recent as August 2022, and didn't see one green haired 30 year old dressed up.  Keep being wrong.

I was amazed when I was there. Having to wait on line with adults and their adult children at an amusement park geared towards children. It’s all based on a talking mouse and a duck wearing a shirt.

Of course it is. The Emancipation Proclamation was limited to those states that joined the Confederacy. It did not attempt to remove slavery in Maryland or Delaware or Kentucky.

Prior to issuing the Emancipation Proclamation, he invited Frederick Douglass and several other black leaders to the White House, and asked for acceptance for his plan to forcibly deport  all black people back to Africa with the argument that blacks and whites could never live together in peace. That’s not true. This country is infinitely better, with regard to race issues, than we were in 1850, or 1950 for that matter. We’ve accomplished a great deal and should celebrate and take pride in how far we’ve come.

You're right, racial issues were set just right in the late 90s and I'd thought the election of Obama which culminated in that was a product of the era. I personally missed most of the 2000s or 10s to identify when things went off the rails. From overseas, I'd held generally positive, but mixed feelings towards Obama for those years. Part of that might have been the residual goodwill of being overjoyed that GWB was out of office.

There are quite a few responsible black people with good moral values, with a work ethic, and that don't hate police that can and should be peeled off from the Democrats. The Dems' grip on Hispanic voters is loosening for these same reason. 

I'd like to pull the carpet out from under the skeevy white liberals who are the true enemy of decency and a lost cause, by swiping ethnic minorities who are tired of being run over and taken for granted and can come to their senses. I think that's the smart move for the GOP to make. Dems make and target them with sickening Disney videos like this trashing the country in order to keep them blind and on the plantation.
