Does Chow-Chow exist with any abundance outside of the Carolinas? Peppers, onions, green tomatoes, etc chopped, pickled and jarred.  We use it as a relish on most any bean but especially black-eyed peas.

Side note I did watch The NY football Giants beat the Bills in the Super Bowl while in some shitty town in Ohio. Prior to the game cops pulled us over and asked if we had guns on us  - we said no and he said in this neighborhood you should. They escorted us back to the highway.

id probably go with Maryland Crab cakes and crab dip.  I do a decent amount of crabbing and make my own crab cakes and other crab dishes but it hits a little better a few states down.

first "tomato pie" i had was tony's in mayfair. its was round and had a little cheese for sure. was awesome. went downhill over the years though and now gone.

ive had corpolese and gaetas too. and were good.

Santucci’s is just like tomato pie but with cheese under the sauce and it’s warm. I love their pizza.

I’m not picky on places for tomato pie. Sardines does a good one. I have a coworker who swears by Conshohoken Italian Bakery.

I always enjoyed Beef On Weck when I was at school in Buffalo.

One of the nearby bars would have an all you can eat Friday happy hour w/ beef on weck, wings, salad, etc.  That plus cheap Labatt's beer specials made it a weekly staple.

One thing I really miss? When I was in the south, Stouffer's had a corn pudding. I loved it. A little hard to describe if you haven't had it. 

 

Can't find it to save my life now that I'm back in the Rocky mountain region.

 

Forget dressing and stuffing and all the other side dishes, the only better side dish for Thanksgiving is of course mashed potatoes.

 

And seriously? If somebody were to walk out to me and say hey you can either have mashed potatoes or turkey? I'm all over the mashed potatoes.

 

But, corn pudding is right behind that.

Yeah, got to admit. About the only time I can tolerate that nonsense is like at a sporting event with the pickled jalapenos on nachos. But I mean it is literally a "tolerate" event. I would much rather have real cheese.

 

Even when I was in philly, I went provolone every single time.
