So even if they're floating on the surface, they can't get out and will run out of food and oxygen in two days. I can think of a million dangerous-ass things to do, like hire a guide to go up Mount Everest, than to do something like this. The descent is more than two hours, and they were like 90 minutes in before contact was loss. I have to think there was some kind of hull breach, and everyone died instantly.
