We now have actual Data that shows people are just plain Dumber than say 10 yrs ago.

I won’t see either of them. Chris Nolan is a hack who makes overlong pretentious movies.

Box office sales has never been an indicator of quality or the intelligence of movie goers. I am sure one could find plenty of examples of that 10 years ago and before that.

I likely won't see Barbie until I rent it from home at 4.99. I heard it was more for adults, not kids and incredibly "woke."

I would like to go see Oppenheimer, but I really really hope they got the historical parts correct.

Oppenheimer is a serious movie.  Then I read about some controversy over sex scenes. What does that have to do with anything?

From what I have heard, there is a bit of male full frontal, more than is needed? Not sure, I haven't really looked into what the scenes are or why.

Maybe Oppenheimer liked to be nude while building the bomb? Perhaps it's where the term Fat Man came from? (I know it's not).

It’s just dumb. And I say this with confidence having not seen it. Makes me think it’s not all that great but we are being told it is.

I thought inception and batman were decent, slightly above average movies. Definitely overrated, but not bad.

Did not really like the other movies and will not watch this one.

I will probably watch Barbie with my wife eventually though, it is difficult finding movies/tv shows to watch together.

Barbie is PG-13 and Oppenheimer is rated R...  That doesn't help...  Also Barbie was in 600 more theaters...

It was not apparent from the OP that it was a joke (if that was your intent).

I think the vast majority go to the movies to be entertained and Barbie appeals to a much wider demographic.  I don't think it's that surprising.

as i say, i think the future of movie theaters is as an amusement park ride like the Simpsons ride at Universal Studios Hollywood.  No more actors, no more plot, no more story.  Just have this big dome and project a 3D carnival ride at people.  Shake their seat.  Spray them with water.  Charge $50.  Every movie house can run 3 of them.  Change the theme out every few weeks. Done.

The cinemas will still exist long after the production companies go bankrupt.  They just convert to their own produced material.

Correct, and Barbie was 1 hour shorter.  A different demographic that isn't split between 5 films doesn't hurt, either.

Cillian Murphy also did the full frontal thing in 28 days later. Totally unnecessary to show a guys hog in a movie.

You are confused, they tell you that because they don't like seeing yours.

Barbie had an advantage over Oppenheimer.  They aren't playing Oppenheimer in Japan.

I think Matt Damon is past his expiration date. “Air” was terrible, even though we were told it was great.

You thought Air was terrible?  That movie was great.  My wife and I really enjoyed it.

Was there any whiff of woke or a liberal talking point?   At any point were guns drawn or boobs out?

I don't recall it being woke.  I really enjoyed learning more about the origins of Nike and what that industry was like.

Well, that's because you are a flaming lib and just nod along to the message.  ;)  I'm behind a bit on the movies, this one is still on my watchlist.

Did I say anything about it being woke? A movie only sucks if it’s woke? Why are you obsessed with woke? As if you made a point.  Child.

Terrible is a strong word for it.  But definitely didn't think it was all that great. The whole concept was dumb in my opinion.  I think Damon is a solid actor and seems to be getting better.  Affleck was terrible in it and his acting was and still isn't very good.

Affleck should stay behind the camera for sure.

I agree with that but overall the movie was good.
