Fauci used a 3rd-party money laundering service to provide US funding for gain of function research in Wuhan, that research being against policy.  Now, you can argue that he did it for righteous reasons, truly believing that such research was needed to help mankind, and maybe that is true, maybe it isn't.  It is clear however that he thinks he is the smartest person in the room, and not beholden to such rules.

More to the OP topic, this is the concern I see -- we'll have some pandemic which truly requires action, and people will not comply.  This particular situation isn't it, but someday it may come.

That’s why they said that masks were ineffective. Later on when the data changed they changed as well. Which is what good scientists do.

I wore it while on the premises of accounts that required it. Put it on as I walked in the door and took it off on my way out the door. If I was in the back room, it came off there as well. 

Other than that I didn't wear it at work and I never wore it when I wasn't at work. Why would it be different this time?
