He basically posits that this is not a war between Hamas and Israel, but with Iran and its desire to control the entire Middle East.

He knocks on American foreign policy back to our invasion of Iraq, which was then the country in the ME large enough to keep Iran in check.  By knocking out Iraq, we let Iran run free.  Also, Biden continues the policy of Iran appeasement started by Obama.  The theory goes that there are a lot of pro-West people in Iran (probably true) and if we are too hard on Iran, we'll just embolden them against us.  This approach failed with Stalin and Hitler, and seems to be failing here (I'm not saying Iran is a superpower of that stature).

Anyway, with talks heating up between Israel and Saudi Arabia and more permanent peace, his thought is that Iran called up Hamas and said it was time to rake a little muck.  And here we are.

I’ve read that from several other sources as well. Seems like a legit explanation.

The question then, is whether Israel is playing right into Iran's hands by going level ten on Gaza. Will make it difficult for Saudi Arabia and others to strike peace deals with Israel

I actually agree with the argument that by knocking out Iraq we helped strengthen Iran. Ironically, one of the first people I ever heard make that argument was Joe Biden in a debate in 2007 against Hillary and Obama. I agreed with him then.

Unfortunately geopolitics must be viewed as a void. The strong powers compete with each other. When one is defeated another strong power eventually comes to take its place. Morality, right and wrong, fair and unfair have nothing to do with it. This is the way the world has always been. It’s sad, but worse to try and deny it.

I don't know how many people here are black because it seldom comes up. I only know of two: Peenie and League Champion. There are surely more but behind the keyboard, who can tell, we're all the same color. Most people just type and don't talk about their race.

I like peenie, am glad she's here and have always gotten along with her. I admire her willingness to come back despite the abuse she gets, plenty of which is race related and out of line. League Champion doesn't lead with being mulatto, and you wouldn't guess it, but he's open about it when its relevant to the topic at hand. I don't know that he's ever gotten any grief over it.

More generally, we have racists here and when I see threads that look geared towards that, I don't open them, let alone participate. It leaks out into other threads. Personally, I'm far more interested in conservatives making inroads within the black and hispanic communities than placating race deadenders. LC is further right than I am. As for peenie, ah, peenie's daughter and uncle see through the left's BS, as for peenie herself, I've seen twenty years of her taking two steps forward and two steps back.

My one college football team got to 8-0 with the toughest opponent on their schedule being Rutgers, it's games are uncompetitive and not interesting, and despite only scheduling nobodies all year, the team still cheats to win those games anyways. In related news, the team is also caught up in another stupid scandal that revolves around buying a kid a hamburger, but I'm not holding that one against them like the NCAA does. 

My other college team has been in freefall, leaderless, and hasn't won a game since the head coach got suspended/fired for having phone sex with a rape survivor advocate.

Meanwhile, the entirety of college football is on its ear. The NCAA has embraced the bullsh*t that is the transfer portal, and one of the premier conferences will fold in a couple of months.

So it's not exactly a great time to be a college football fan, especially for me.

I love watching great athletes. That Ohio State-Rutgers game wasn’t terrible. That TD catch by Harrison was a thing of beauty. You should enjoy him while you can, you won’t see anyone that good very often.

Thus far, their conference opponents are hardly any better than their non-conference ones. They're spying on teams that aren't very good to begin with. It's embarrassing.

Then you turn to Michigan State and everything is discombobulated. Mel Tucker embarrassed them, the program is struggling, though they did win today. This football team has had recent success but things fell apart when Mel was caught with his pants down, literally, and there's really a chance they are on the precipice of permanent decline and irrelevance unless they get some incredible coach... the guy on local sports talk radio, MSU homer Mike Valenti, is really pounding the drum for Urban Meyer. My God. The man knows how to win college football games better than anyone else out there that may be available, but c'mon? How can you fire a guy for phone sex guy, then hire Urban Meyer whose 10x worse?

Yeah I don’t know what to think about the Michigan scandal. Guess I’ll wait and see. I’ve always been kind of a fan of Michigan so it’s disappointing. 

I’m a UCLA fan. They’re not having a terrible year. It’s not great but it’s not awful. If they beat USC I’ll be happy. Be interesting to see how they fare against your teams starting next season.

If I were Israel I’d be willing to agree to the first half: release all the hostages and the bombing stops. Though that doesn’t offer any kind of permanent solution.

I was born in the mid 60’s. And in the entirety of my life there have been two regions in the world engaged in constant conflict. The Middle East and Eastern Europe. And for thousands of years before that. The only conclusion I can come to is they like it. Yet we keep sticking our nose in their wars and the only result for us is lost blood and treasure.  And 100 years from now they’ll still be trying to kill each other. Book it.

What's interesting to maybe only me is that in the months and weeks leading up to the war, there were multiple stories about so-called traditional Israeli Jews spitting on, assaulting, and cursing at Christians in israel.

 

 

Always been a weird dynamic;  "We love christians!" But the only reason they love us is because we all have to die in order for them to achieve their Kingdom of David.

Thousands of people in America and Europe marching for a cease fire.  Actually they are shouting for the eradication of Israel as a whole, all the way from the river to the sea, but I digress.  Let’s pretend they only want a cease fire.  

Well maybe release the hostages and publicly denouncing the Hamas savages? But see that won’t happen. The minority of Palestinians who are against Hamas are just that,  and don’t have the power. They’d be shot by their own people. 

So here we are, it’s a completely focked situation but the path is clear.  

Either Palestinians accepts the two state solution, rids itself of Radical Islamic Terrorists (Hamas) or it doesn’t.  Because Israel really has no choice, they cease fire and Oct. 7th 2023 happens again on March 7th 2024,  then after a regroup on July 7th 2024.  And they aren’t, cannot nor should not allow that.  

Either Palestinians rid themselves of Hamas, lives peacefully in a two state solution or a Reckoning is coming.  

Their move.
