Plans for Lent?

Recommended Posts

Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent, anyone planning any sacrifices?  I'm giving up whiskey, which I've been drinking a little more than I'd like.  We'll also eat minimalist on Fridays.

I also downloaded an app called Hallow, which has some interesting Christian meditations and associated prayers during Lent.

I know it's not hipster to do anything for Lent, but since people do Sober October and Dry January, and pretty much every civilization in the history of ever has seen the value of mindfulness/meditation and sacrifice/fast, I thought I'd ask. If you abstract away the God part, it can be a very rewarding thing.

I'm truly sacrificing Jerry.  I'm gonna give up banging your wife for Lent.  Thanks for the softball.

I too was drinking too much bourbon and took a break. Currently 87 days sober.

Good luck. It's harder than I thought it will be but I'm sure you'll do great.

We're planning this; fish for dinner.  But I'm thinking of passing on breakfast and lunch to do a 24 hour intermittent fast.  Other than cream in my coffee, I won't give that up.

Are you completely dry?  Do you plan to stay that way?

Correct no alcohol since the last night of deer camp last November.

I don't know. I don't think so, but then again I never planned to go this long.

Man you guys should be Baptist.  We get to pretty much do anything and be the chosen ones by just believing.

Jerry...I would NEVER rag on you man.  You're a cool dude.  My apologies if you took it that way.  More a general thing.

No worries, no offense taken.

I'm merely arguing that there is benefit to the practice, independent of the religious aspect.
