jerryskids 5,309 Posted February 14 Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent, anyone planning any sacrifices? I'm giving up whiskey, which I've been drinking a little more than I'd like. We'll also eat minimalist on Fridays. I also downloaded an app called Hallow, which has some interesting Christian meditations and associated prayers during Lent. I know it's not hipster to do anything for Lent, but since people do Sober October and Dry January, and pretty much every civilization in the history of ever has seen the value of mindfulness/meditation and sacrifice/fast, I thought I'd ask. If you abstract away the God part, it can be a very rewarding thing.

But I'm thinking of passing on breakfast and lunch to do a 24 hour intermittent fast. Other than cream in my coffee, I won't give that up.

I don't think so, but then again I never planned to go this long.

No worries, no offense taken. I'm merely arguing that there is benefit to the practice, independent of the religious aspect.
