I saw some crazy statistics the other day regarding where countries rank in gun violence. The US was at or near the top.......UNTIL......

If you removed the numbers from the top 5 violent cities....all Democrat run....the US drops to like 180 on the list. Can't find the link to verify but it makes sense.

I'm not sure why we think we can boil down all the issues related to gun violence on two partisan lines.  Did anyone watch that Netflix thing where the lady was kidnapped and nobody believed her or her boyfriend? Yeah those cops sucked but the reality is our police departments are not resourced enough to deter, prevent, investigate, and provide enough evidence to convict all crime.   So you end up with a certain fragment of society that feels like they can take advantage of this and get away with a life of crime.   

Your gun wielding, guns can save us mentality, or police and policy can save us by restricting gun access in the country neither one will get at the core of the problem described in the previous paragraph.

What might make a difference, is if you take these guys, to s public place in the city and advertise it, end them through execution by firing range and demonstrate that this behavior won't be tolerated.   We're too soft and sensitive to do that any more, but a few of those and this might start thinking differently about the way in which they live.

Time to revoke the 8th amendment.  I support punishment which is both cruel and unusual for heinous crimes like mass murder or being a scochet.  Lock these perps in stocks on the public square for 72 hours.  Provide amnesty or immunity to any citizen who touches them in any manner.  Let the community express their norms with the only proviso being no guns or knives as we want it to last.  Bats, hand tools, pipes, sledge hammers, caustics, abrasives, rotting asian carp, gerbils should all be fair game as should playing Barry Manilow and Neil Sedaka on a loop.  If they survive their 72 hours fine, release them.  If they do not, justice has been served and a teachable moment has been optimized..

Here's why you're wrong, and uncapable of understanding why.  The overwhelmingly vast majority of open/carry gun owners, have a complete and total understanding of gun safety and use.  I don't know the laws in that town/state pertaining to open/carry, but I'm willing to bet that there were people there with guns.  You like to point out that the person was subdued by people who didn't have guns (even though you don't know if they did or not), but you're not willing to realize that while there were people there with guns, no one used them.  That's because, again, those people have respect for guns and what can come from their use.  They wouldn't just willy nilly open fire just to kill one or two people.

To you, the existence of the gun initially is the problem, not the people.  That's why you can't comprehend common sense and logic.
