Report: Tower asked Jet to change runways and they did alter their approach as directed by Air Traffic Control.

The military helicopter was not broadcasting ASDB. The helicopter had a crew of 3 (per U.S. Official) and was not carrying any VIPs.

Early word is they reported they had visibility of the plane but the plane they saw was department National Airport and the one they hit was the arriving plane.

There is a defined helicopter route in that area but it requires an altitude of 200 feet.  This helicopter was flying at 400 or so feet.  If it had been at the proper altitude this accident doesn't occur.  Such a shame.  Thoughts and prayers to all involved.

If you have never had the experience of landing at Reagan I can tell you its odd.   The sensation is that the plane is moving in an usual manner, like its moving a little more extreme, and then as you are landing you look out and it seems like you are right at the water level.....its more exciting than a usual landing
