I've found that when my air conditioning or heat is set to Auto (and is usually blowing pretty high in the middle of summer/winter), the feature turns itself off.

Most cars have an on/off button for it, otherwise you can go into the computer and disable it all together.

Biggest concern is it’s not good for the engine.

It’s also annoying. In mine it’s slow to turn back on, so you can’t press the gas that quick when the light turns green.

From my understanding is that it's only wear and tear on the starter and battery, so they designed better starters and batteries to compensate.  Maybe @SUXBNME can offer an opinion on if it's bad for the engine.

So I asked the dealer about this when I bought the car and he said the same thing, “better starter and battery”. So I asked why they haven’t used those better parts before this feature or with the cars without this feature?

No it's common sense. Why would you put a battery and starter in a car that is designed to start multiple times per day when you don't need it to?

Doing the math, auto stop/start would save me an average of 5% of fuel consumption. That's .91 gallons of gas for a savings of $2.82 per week. I don't see a need for me to drive a truck that has crippled performance.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee, like many modern vehicles, features an Auto Stop/Start system, also known as ESS (Engine Stop-Start), which automatically shuts off the engine when the vehicle is stopped to save fuel. My wife's and daughter's car both have that feature...  Some how it got permanently shutoff on my wife's car...

All I know is that I hated it especially on a hot day and getting stopped at a traffic light for some time...

So this feature is supposed to reduce emissions and be better for the environment.  They found it's not good for the battery, so they mine more lithium (which is worse for the environment that the initial problem), to address the current problem, which isn't as efficient as if they never addressed the "initial problem" in the first place.

This is another "we need to stop cutting down trees and produce plastic instead" situation.
