Rate your level of satisfaction 2024 vs 2025

Recommended Posts

Are you happier right now than you were a year ago under Trump vs Biden? Do you sleep sounder? Does the sun shine more brightly? Do the flowers smell more sweet? Do you feel more safe? Do you have more money or job security?

For me, things are a bit more expensive (food) and I feel like there Is anxiety among immigrants. Due to the current administration, my work situation is whack. Other than that, meh, not much difference in my day to day living. I’m not more satisfied. I’m also not devastated, despite having job insecurity.

I’m curious, does the country feel greater to you?

Great question!  I think it's about the same for me.  Nothing has really changed for me in the past year.  I don't carry any more anxiety about today than I did a year ago really.

MUCH better now.  I never expect any politician or party to do what's actually "right" for the country, but I do expect them to do what's "wrong" for the country.  Biden/Harris were going down the wrong path... any change is better, even it's static.  Status quo is better than negative.

I think Trump's agenda over time will prove to be a much better path for the country.  I think eliminating funding that's going towards illegal immigrants is a huge positive step.  States are allowing illegal immigrants to get money they aren't qualified for, such as Medicaid, SNAP, education, and college funding.  Eliminating financial benefits that encourage people coming here illegally will (and has), greatly impacted the flow of illegal immigration into our country.  If those people want to come here, welcome... there's the door ---->, use it.  Don't sneak in the window.

I'm amazed how black people are ok with how the Democrats are utilizing illegal immigration.  It has nothing to do with them taking black jobs... it's how they're only a minute step up from the days of slavery.  Back in the day, the land owner supplied sub-standard living conditions, sub-standard education, sub-standard healthcare, and sub-standard food... all for free labor.  Today, illegal immigrants are getting Section 8 housing (sub-standard living conditions), living in areas with sub-standard education, giving them Medicaid/ACA (sub-standard healthcare), and SNAP (sub-standard food)... all for low wage labor, and this time, YOU and I (taxpayers), are paying for it.  You understand that the Democrats call for making these people legal will only lead to 1 thing right?  A call for reparations.  You don't see the irony in this?  They're going to do the same thing to illegal immigrants that they did to black people.

If Donald Trump accomplishes nothing, aside from eliminating the flow and exploitation of illegal immigrants, then this country will be way better for it.

The first and most obvious thing that comes to mind as a response to your topic is that no one who posts on this board should be measuring their level of happiness based on who is the president. It should not impact the amount or quality of your sleep... I know there will be, for example, some federal employees who will chime in about the doge stuff... but for the most part, I do not feel most peoples day to day lives are greatly impacted no matter who is potus.

I suppose I do technically feel more job security in the sense that being a white male no longer feels like a bad thing and I don't feel quite as much like I need to walk on eggshells. It's a welcomed shift from the overdone liberal narrative but I think we were sort of headed there regardless of Trump as I think the country was tired of it and was starting to realize the difference between equal opportunity and quotas.

I also have more money because the market has been booming and my personal investments have been on fire. 2021 and 2022 were fairly rough under Biden, while 2023 was very good.

Yes, I would say the country feels greater. Unfortunately if I point to things like increased border security, deportation of illegal immigrants, and finally pressing for more fair trade, the big time libs are going to cry about it all. They don't care that their own heroes had often talked about the detriments of illegal immigration or trade imbalance with China. All they know is the Orange Man is doing it, so it must be bad now....

You left the word illegal out

not a single immigrant is worried

25 is way better than 24. Simply cause the fact no more illegals are coming in and many are getting the f out

I don't really base my "happiness" with life on who is in the White House, it's usually the circumstances around me.

I am about the same, really.

No one should.  That said, I do know there are a few who post at FFT who are/were government employees so I can see this having been a stressful year for them even though most or many of us agree with cutting wasteful government spending. Perhaps peenie is? I'm not sure what would be "whack" about her work situation this year compared to last year that would have to do with presidential administrations, if not.

granted, the TDS people have spent a lot of time manufacturing ways to lose sleep.

I am not a govt employee and do not have job security; in fact, I am being let go towards the end of the year. That's some cause for unhappiness. I also have a few family related things and health related things that would also be more of a cause for unhappiness. But, we power through. Just like we did with other presidents I didn't agree with.

I may not agree with past or current presidents and what they do, but in no way does it drive my daily/weekly/monthly emotions.

and I agree with you. That's mostly my point. There are many other more important factors in happiness.

I guess I was just simply adding that job security is a major player in many peoples happiness and I can at least understand if certain policies are directly impacting someones job. Even though the overall concept of job security is something people deal with from time to time and it usually has nothing to do with presidential policy.

Nope. They are upstanding citizens. Just brown. Did you not see that this administration is asking to allow some dipshit cop be allowed to discriminate based on appearance or accents?

Trump-related budget cuts have negatively impacted several family members for reasons I won't go into, so 2024 was way better than this year with the terrible direction this country has taken.

Mocking kids and an elderly woman suffering from a disease for which Trump cut research money.

Not surprising coming from a poo-flinging ape like you.

One of my stocks has been negatively impacted by President Trump. Western Union has been doing poorly because many illegals that used it to send money back home, aren't doing so anymore. I'll take the loss with a smile as it's the right thing for the country.

Sure he did. You mean cut fraudulent overspending. Got it

here’s a hint. Pharmaceutical companies have plenty of funding for every single disease. Our taxes don’t need to be “funding” administrative costs

you’re likely one of those idiots who think Canada has great healthcare.  Move there

I was curious, so I googled it and Google AI answered:

  • Tariffs imposed by the Trump administration on imported goods, particularly those from China, have caused price increases for many pet products, including cat food and kitty litter.

DOGE found almost nothing in the way of "fraud." This has been widely reported and is a fact, but you prefer hyperbole and misinformation over facts because that makes you feel better.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

Which negatively impacts cat-rescue nonprofits, like the one that provides us with food and kitty litter.

But I did raise $10,000 this year through the fundraiser I run for them annually.

I’m sure people are worried for a number of reasons. In my friends case, a married couple of lawyers with kids, their president telling some dumbfucks just hired that they get to pick and choose who to discriminate against is an unsettling development. I’d guess there are thousands of people who feel the same.

Maybe you can assure them it’s all fine, you have total faith in these civil servants to have perfect judgement.

That’s actually a good question. Leaving politics out of it I guess yes?

like I just turned 51 in June. So there is starting to creep in a lot more thoughts of my own mortality I guess. We are 10 years from retiring and that actually terrifies me because it’s that usually means there’s not a whole hell of a lot left. Kids are all gone, etc.

there’s a lot of things I can still go do but like I always said the hard part about getting old isn’t that I can’t open new doors like learning to play the piano or learning a new language. The hard part is that doors I used to go in all the time for fun or excitement. I just can’t do anymore like sports. (Injuries lately)

I mean, I still play video games for Gods sake..

So happy in the fact that there’s a lot I don’t have to deal with anymore in my younger days like climbing some stupid corporate ladder or just money in general, but they’re definitely things that scare me a lot more than what they did.

I’ve always said I only have one thing left to do and that’s walk three girls down an aisle. Past that im good. That prospect feels like it gets more real by the second.
