I am not linking the high prices of food with Trump. The prices have BEEN high, I just now made a thread about it. Like, why is a handful of berries $5.99?? Meanwhile, farmers are committing suicide.

Is it just me, or is food becoming unaffordable? I don't even buy red meat these days and I'm cutting down on fruits and vegetables. It's really high. I don't get out of the grocery store without spending $100. I find that I'm cutting back and not shopping as much. Anyone else feeling like food is way overpriced?

Nope. It's fine with me.

Food prices obviously spiked post COVID.  Had a brief respite, but are now going up again thanks to tariffs and labor shortages, both trump policy.

That is because you are shopping at whole foods.

(I am kidding I know you were being hyperbolic)

No, I shop at Publix and Kroger. That's truly how much raspberries and blackberries cost! I don't even buy the organic ones, just the regular ones are that high.

Here is the price of 2 handfuls blueberries.
Okay, yes, perhaps I was exaggerating or simply not remembering but here is the price of blackberries.

Where are your berries coming from?

Even if you have local farms, produce may not always come from the farm down the street. Add gas/trucking/importing fees to the prices of things. If the items you're buying are not in season or are being brought in from another location, then you will be paying for that as well.

And yes, farmers are suffering. Their prices are going up as well; gas, water, utilities, labor, etc. And those increases get passed on down to us.

Lol. That is 18 ounces of blueberries for 5.99.

I would have to be baking pies to eat that many blueberries.

It seems to be coming down at my Safeway...Except for Cheese  Fukkin Tillimook still 15.00 a block.

I should buy cheaper cheese, but I like their brand.

I tried this a few weeks when it was on sale.  In comparison to the brand I had at the time, it was much better.  I just bought another (the smaller block, not the $15 one), but it was so salty (medium cheddar) that I really want to throw it out.  Do you find the flavor changes a lot, or is it pretty consistent?

I dunno.    wife and I sale shop.   A lot.   Blueberries at 3.99?   Nope.  not buying them.   When they go on sale for 99 or 1.99 a pint?  I'm in.

One week it might be blueberries on sale, next week strawberries, or watermelon.   We eat based on what is on sale.   Yeah we have a few items that we buy regardless of the price but not often.

Nope. I'm not angry. And not a 'bot'. I want illegals gone for many reasons. This has all previously been discussed. And I don't find grocery prices bad at all.

You however, are the raging angry one. Not my fault. Blame yourself for that. Not my problem. :dunno:

I've never bought the smaller block, but I also buy the Medium cheddar and sometimes the white cheddar and have never had the issue you're talking about :dunno: Luckily

Companies will 'continue' to charge as much as the market will bear, as long as a majority are willing to pay the inflated prices.

About 4 years ago I found a new item at my grocery store. Pre-shaped (non-frozen) prime rib burgers from a company in Colorado. A package of 4 was $12 & worth every penny.

Slowly but surely, the quality of the beef began to deteriorate. I'd say it was 93-7 when I started purchasing them. About 1.5 years ago, I'd guess it was down to 70-30, the burgers were smaller, & the price was up to $14

I even took the time to write a letter & send it to the facility where they were produced. Told them I understood inflation was an issue & that I wouldn't mind paying as much as $16 for a package of 4, if the quality was the same as it was when I discovered them 4 years earlier.

They never replied. No idea if they sell as many as they did 4 years ago, but they still have them at that particular grocery store, so I have to assume someone's still buying them.

Blackrock, Blackstone and vanguard buying up energy companies. I wish violent trannies went after them instead of school kids.

Last Monday the wife and I stopped at McD's for breakfast at the start of a day trip (Petrified Forest National Park, highly recommended if you are in the NE part of our great state, or go to Flagstaff or the Grand Canyon).  Haven't eaten there in at least a year.  Anyway, I got two bacon egg and cheese biscuits, she got some sammich and a hash brown... $26.  Da fuq?!  I mean, I can afford it because I have GC money, but not too long ago that order used to be, I dunno, $10 or less?

McD's app,  BOGO any breakfast sammich. So around me that 2 sausage egg mcmuffins for $5.  App also has free hashbrown with sammich. So another $5 roughly.  Been that way for the past 2-3 years that I can recall.

I think the prices are cheap. Yes they are up. I choose to view essential things for living as inexpensive. The way you view things is important.
