NewbieJr 540 Posted May 23, 2017 Overall, the 80's. Great variety, Kick ass dance music, and the new wave era. But rock n roll sucked in the 80's. Definitely 70's for rock. With a comeback in the 90's.
vuduchile 1,941 Posted May 23, 2017 10 year span only? Gotta go with 1970 to 1980 The decade opens with the last Beatles album in '70, plus albums from Creedence, The Stooges, Marvin Gaye, Santana, CSN, Hendrix, Most of Ed's aforementioned Elton and Joel Stuff happened in there, plus Disco was huge even though lots of it sucked. Plus, the following artists were in their prime then: Pink Floyd Zep Bee Gees Allman Brothers Skynyrd Dylan The Stones Sex Pistols Blondie Fleetwood Mac Clapton Bob Seger The Police Aerosmith Stevie Wonder BB King George Thorogood Paul Simon Bowie Springsteen George Jones Johnny Cash Waylon and Willie Nugent And as the decade closed out, we were introduced to Van Halen, ACDC (back in black), The Clash, The Cars, Talking Heads, Prince, solo Ozzy, The Cure, Dire Straits, The Ramones, U2,

vuduchile 1,941 Posted May 23, 2017 1970 to 1980 is 11 years. Thanks Mr Technicality. Ok. Then let's go with May 8, 1970(Let It Be release date) to May 7 of 1980. That lets me keep VH, ACDC, Prince, but I lose U2 and Ozzy since their first albums debuted in Sept and Oct of 1980. I'll take it.
mighty_thor 115 Posted May 23, 2017 I'd say 1967 through 1976. From 77 on there was a disco and soft rock period in the 70's (Jackson Browne, fleetwood mac, etc.,). The Beatles, Rolling Stones, led zep, and even aerosmith(early/mid 70's) put out their best stuff in the late '60's and early '70's.

cbfalcon 824 Posted May 23, 2017 While the 1965-1975 era has more all time top 10 type bands. let me make an argument for approximately 1991-2001 Early half of the 10 year run Guns N Roses - Use Your Illusion 1 and 2 both released in 91. Metallica - Black album released in 91. Nirvana Pearl Jam Alice in Chains Smashing Pumpkins Soundgarden Bush - not as great, but I loved those first 2-3 albums Stone Temple Pilots Rage Against the Machine Dr Dre Snopp Doggy Dogg Ice Cube Beastie Boys Toadies - homer choice, but 1994's Rubberneck is a classic Red Hot Chili Peppers U2 Green Day REM Nine Inch Nails Most of the above were still strong, but then bands like the following joined in during the 2nd half of that 10 year run. Oasis - not my faves, but huge Notorious BIG Tupac Radiohead Foo Fighters No Doubt Outkast Beck Blur Jay Z Eminem Tool Muse

iam90sbaby 2,125 Posted May 23, 2017 Hip-hop was great during the early nineties. Now, not so much. Do you alreast like the Beastie Boys? Beastie Boys are cool. I just have a hard time listening to music that talks about activities that I never partake in. B&E's, riding on spinners, that sort of thing. Here is some new hip hop/rap whatever you want to call it I like, you might dig it: It is when they start glorifying really sh!tty behavior that is when it just becomes annoying for me to listen too. I know that makes me sound like a square but I just feel like the biggest poser if I listen to that crap. You should check out Quinn XCII.
cbfalcon 824 Posted May 23, 2017 I went back and added a couple more bands...Beastie Boys, Cube, Muse (Origin was their 2nd album, and it hit in 2001).......I'm sticking with this era. Probably left out lots more good hip hop.

That's why I said early 90's hip-hop (Tribe Called Quest, Common, NAS, etc.) was a much different music than the crap you hear now. In regards to the video you posted, that's more along the lines of the 21 Pilots tweener pop.

jerryskids 5,205 Posted May 25, 2017 LMAO! Kidding right? This isn't a worst ever list. Hating Nickelback is as hipster as loving Radiohead. CB makes a good argument for the 90s. Putting U2 there isn't fair though, their heyday was the 80s. I'll stick with the 70s tho. Maybe 68 to 78 to pull in more Who, Hendrix, Simon and Garfunkel.
