I see this a lot when reading articles about people shaming women who breast feed their babies. First and foremost I am a supporter of mom's who breastfeed and think anyone who has a problem with it is a douche.

 

The question I have is, is there any culture that doesn't sexualize breasts in any way? Besides some tribe in South America or Africa?

I understand the people who want women to cover up. I still wouldn't want to make a woman feel ashamed of feeding her baby while she is doing it. And it poses the question, what if a woman forgets her cover thing? Is she supposed to not feed her baby for fear of being shamed?

My wife breast fed our 3 kids. If I recall she was fairly discreet about it, and I don't remember thinking anything about it (except that it is great for the guy if the mom breast feeds because it gets him out of a lot of the baby work, and his woman has ginormous, sensitive boobies).

Yesterday I was at the airport; a lot of flights were delayed because of the Southwest computer problem, so a bunch of people were crammed into the bar. I met a ton of friendly people including one lady who decided she was going to expense all of our drinks so the booze was flowing. After about an hour this other MILFy lady in our group (34 started eying me up and down saying "you are really rocking that look, the shirt, the jeans, the shoes ..." So, some theories say that breasts exist permanently to try to catch and keep a mate, so we've sexualized them.

 

Re: breastfeeding in public. I did it, but I would always find a quiet place away from people. Whether that was the lounge area of a restroom, a table that was quieter and away from crowds, or if I had to go out to my car and do it because there were no other options. You wouldn't have found me sitting in the middle of a crowded mall or restaurant just whipping it out and feeing my baby. I pumped milk and we used that when we knew ahead of time that there just wouldn't be an easier option, or if I wasn't able to get away. To me it was a very personal and private thing to do.
