What does rioting and looting do? This seems like their signature move.

Its less about improving so much as about blowing off some steam, an opportunity to point ones finger around and say "see!! I told you!"

It's also a chance for free sh1t. All I know is I'd be posted up at my store with my guns. Someone tries to come in they get blasted.

Might be a bad idea. When shooting certain members of society for their actions of violence I can see it just leading to more protests, and the pretense that "just because he was burning and looting doesn't mean he deserved to be shot".....on that we can likely find no common ground with the excusers.....

This Charlotte one will be interesting.

After the voter cases tried by that legislature...you have a black man shot. Won't matter much what the details are (in this case, and armed man who would not put the damn gun down when ordered...shot by possibly a black officer).

This is one where the smart protesters (and there are smart ones) will stay away and realize this dead guy focked up majorly.

If you are looting in a riot or a natural disaster you should be killed on the spot. That should be a law.

I've heard both stories - he had a gun and he didn't have a gun. Anyone know for sure?

Honestly I wouldn't give a sh1t what they thought. I'd make sure to post a big ass sign that clearly stated you would be shot if you tried to loot and burn my place. Their own dam fault for doing it and I would have no remorse

Does it matter? You don't get to riot either way.

Only person I have seen say he didn't have a gun was a relative I think.

Hell their relatives always paint them as a fockin saint. Now I'm not saying he deserved to be shot. They could have handled that WAY better. Maybe every police department should have their officers take remedial training on how to handle perps in these situations. Cause currently their methods aren't working

No doubt...I think I read somewhere the family claim he was in the car reading a book waiting to pick up a kid.

I never put any stock into what the family says because they are always gonna paint an innocent picture and try to milk it for all they can

Oh, I know that...just thought the reading a book part was funny when so far any other evidence shows him as being out of the car with a gun.

Right. Getting anything believable is the challenge. I think we can agree that anything the cops, the family or <ahem> "witnesses" bring forth has to be questioned pretty well. The evidence will usually align with one of the stories and you have to subscribe to that one, but even then, you can really never be 100% sure, you just have to trust the evidence you have.

Maybe Black Americans should be taught how to interact with Police. why is this always the cops fault, criminals resisting arrest deserve bad thing that happen to them.

Did you see that video of Koryyn Gaines "teaching" her son about police and how to interact with them? I wonder who taught her.....

I may be wrong about that, I thought I saw a quick news blurb about a riot in Phoenix, but it was probably a Phoenix Stations news report on Charlotte, sorry.

Honestly, especially after Mike Brown - and now again in this case -

I really think they should prosecute anybody (cop, witness, family) who lies about the facts of such a shooting. Hell, you can't yell FIRE in a movie theatre and the kind of lies that are told in the immediate aftermath of such a shooting - exacerbated by social media - only seek to incite violence (and up the civil settlement).

How many times have caught blacks lying about the facts of a case, massive rioting and unrest - and then a day, a week or longer, we find out the actual facts - but nobody is held accountable for the lie and resultant damage, violence and unrest?

It's like I've said before - Mike Brown - they interviewed some Tawanna who just "swore' that "he ain't even wearing the same clothes as that boy in the store robbery!" Uh yeah, Tawanna, there's this thing called digital recordings and yes, yes he was.

- But that gets added to the narrative and by the time the truth comes out, it's a fait accompli - and nobody is held accountable.

BIG focking difference between holding a book and a gun.

But we'll never prosecute anybody for false and inflammatory testimony - because it would lead to even MORE riots - and Black people can't be held accountable for their actions or lies. Hell, they burned the cop AND his supervisor for lying about the case where the guy was shot running away in a matter of days.

When a group of people need to be taught common sense, there is little hope.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte Police Chief Kerr Putney said officers gave 43-year-old Keith Lamont Scott multiple warnings to drop a handgun before fatally shooting him.

During a news conference Wednesday morning, Putney said officers were searching for a different suspect at a northeast Charlotte apartment complex Tuesday when they saw Scott exit a vehicle with a handgun. Putney said the officers told Scott to drop the gun, but he got out of the vehicle a second time still carrying the firearm.

Putney said officers shot Scott because he posed a threat. Officers requested medical help and performed CPR on Scott soon after the shooting, Putney said.

"It's time to change the narrative, because I can tell you from the facts that the story's a little bit different as to how it's been portrayed so far, especially through social media," he said.

Charlotte Mayor Jennifer Roberts appealed for calm in Wednesday's news conference and promised a full investigation of the incident.

Officer Brently Vinson, who shot Scott has been placed on administrative leave while the shooting is investigated. Vinson has been with CMPD since 2014.

Putney said Vinson was in plain clothes, not police uniform, but he was wearing a vest bearing the CMPD logo. Vinson was not wearing a body camera during the shooting, Putney said, but other officers were.

B.J. Murphy, the leader of the Nation of Islam, called for an economic boycott of Charlotte at a news conference of black leaders on Wednesday, saying if black lives don't matter, black money shouldn't matter.

Hours after the shooting, authorities used tear gas to disperse protesters in an overnight demonstration that left 12 officers with minor injuries and shut down a highway in the state's largest city. Protests continued into early Wednesday morning, when TV footage showed dozens of protesters on Interstate 85 apparently looting semi-trucks and setting their contents on fire on the highway.

The officer was African American. This shiit isn't racial....its that in many black communities there is a thought to "Fock the Police" and sometimes they do not comply, resist, etc. which escalates situations.

Black people over the past 2 years have been killed while not committing a crime, not carrying a weapon and yet you are still blaming black people.

It's our fault because Tawana Brawley told a lie 30 years ago.

It's our fault because there are black criminals. Not that there are white ones of course.

Thats a wrap. Now hunt down and prosecute as many as the animals that rioted as you can. And make them pay restitution for what they destroyed. And any medical bills for anyone, including cops, injured in the riot.

I don't even know who the fock Tawana Brawley is (I assume a lot of people don't know who that is) that definitely is the problem. The only problem here is untrained cops being scared of someone when they assume they are from the "hood". Thats it, stop making sh!t up.

There is a rather interesting story to this.

Of the 990 people shot by police in 2015, 948 people were male, 494 were white and 258 were black. African Americans comprise 12 percent of the U.S. populations and of that 6 percent are black men. Black people were shot at 2.5 times the rate of white people, even though they are known to commit crimes at a far higher %. Given that the % of crimes committed by whites is so much lower, and thus proportionally they interact with the police less often, why are they getting shot so often?
