Favorite band from the "Grunge" era / scene?

Recommended Posts

For me, It's Peal Jam easily.

Eddie Vedder just does it for me.

So many great bands from this era, it just just sucks that the most "popular" was a bunch of no talent asshats with the exception of the drummer at the time.
You know who I'm talking about

Yea...Subjective...I know

Grunge focking sucks.   From that era?   Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.  Saw them with Pearl Jam opening.  Even Pearl Jam knows TP and the HB are a better band from the grunge era.

Foo wasn't in that scene, but I know what you mean.

Chris had a voice blessed from Allah...No question about it

You focking tard...(see #3and #4))

1: I've never seen that vid before.Awesome

2: I guess my title was misleading. I wanted to ask ones favorite band from the "grunge scene", yet I put "era "in it. My bad

3: Some of the most talented vocalists came from that scene. No denying that.

4: Tom Petty has been around since the mid 70s or summfin

Ok...I stand corrected.
I thought that Dave formed them much later than that.

they became much more popular later.  their earlier sound was similar to nirvana.

I'll go with PJ, but I wish the whole thing never happened. And when Dave Grohl is considered the big talent from the genre, that kinda says it all.

yah while I liked grunge kinda I wasn't all that into it Pearl Jam is the easy answer, STP some as well

as far as bands from that era though

NIN, Soul Asylum and Cracker were my 3 favs

hated Dave Grohl, and the Foo Fighters

Chris Cornell is better now that he is dead, but I was never really a fan of Soundgarden either

Nirvana was the best from that era. Alice In Chains was my second fave. Mudhoney has a few moments too. Most of that scene was forgettable.

New band called Drendge does that sound really well:

Yeah, it was short lived, but around long enough to kill album oriented rock. It got jammed down out throats all at once and people just didn't want to be depressed by their music after a while. Unfortunately garbage filled the void after they left, for the most part. Rock has never been the same.

Pearl Jam is good.

I also really enjoyed Mother Love Bone and then the Temple of the Dog collaboration. Listen to plenty of STP, Soundgarden......the sountrack from that movie "the Singles" was also greta. Not sure if they are a tight "fit" to it, but Janes Addiction was focking awesome in the day....

Concrete Blonde.....   and what about the Pixies...were they not effectively "grunge" before grunge was a thing?

No favorite as I'm not a big fan of that scene but having to choose I'd go Soundgarden if for nothing else Black Hole Sun.

What do you calls the genre after grunge?

Third Eye Blind and Sublime for that one.

Not sure what you would call it, but I wouldn't lump Sublime in with it.  Their career basically overlapped Grunge.
