Also, on a random golf note: I think I mentioned here that I got a 4-pack of golf lessons for my son and me for Christmas. We had the first lesson last week. I've never had a lesson, because I always think I'm the smartest person in the room. After watching one, maybe two of my swings with a wedge, the instructor pointed out that I was doing a low backswing, inside-out type of swing which was restricting my (already bad) flexibility and, contrary to what you (and by you, I mean "I") would think, causing me to push irons to the right, unless I Mr. Snappy'd them to the left. He had me work on a 1/2 to 2/3 speed swing with an exaggerated straight back takeaway. Also had me stand a little farther away from the ball. We moved to a 7 iron, and holy shiot, I was hitting the ball close to 150 yards with what felt like barely a swing.
Unfortunately, I've been laid up with a fever the past few days, but I have managed to work in some time in the back yard just building the muscle memory for the swing. I'm hoping to get to the range at least once before the next lesson this Saturday (we plan to get there early and hit some balls before the official lesson).
Anyway, other than the fever thing, I'm super stoked for this. We're working on long clubs this weekend, then chipping (my worst) as part of the next one.
