You are the one missing out in this case, Dank. Both the books and the series are outstanding.

It's confusing for a DVR, yes. Most of time it doesn't catch the name change. HTH

Edit: It would likely be somewhat confusing for some viewers as well. Is it a spinoff or the same show kinda thing.

I guess you never watched Lord of the Rings , Harry Potter, Spartacus on Starz, etc. as it would of just been too difficult for you to realize what you were watching as they have different titles an all ya know. I'm sorry :(

I like it when guys who are regular posters on a fantasy football internet message board try to give other posters on a fantasy football internet message board crap about being nerds. :)

LOR and Harry Potter are movies. You expect them to have different titles. TV shows, not so much. So, by your logic all the CSI franchises should be just a continuation of the same show... not spinoffs, right?

I'm sure HBO knows what they are doing. They probably held focus groups to see what tested better and GOT won. Get over it.

I also didn't say it would confuse me...

Yes, it might be more relevant as a whole, but likely wouldn't really make sense to the non-book viewers until the end. I think naming it the way they did was a good idea. It likely drew in more people than had they went with ASOIAF. It sounds less sci-fi and therefore you get a broader audience base.

Renaming each season would be stupid and confusing. Nothing like setting your DVR to record something and then they change the name and you miss it.

I didn't even know what Game of Thrones was until I was flipping through channels and saw a horse get beheaded.... Season Pass

Tywin is quite the matchmaker.

Awesome scene with Arya/Thoros/Beric and Jamie and Brienne.

Interested to hear what people think about Jamie's recounting of the past.

I think the King Slayer needs to make a baby with Brienne

Perfectly casted and I don't think Charles Dance has aged at all since The Golden Child.

That shot they showed of Maester Qyburn working on Jamie's stump was gruesome. I bet the special effects team had fun working on that one.

This season is getting better with every episode.

The thing I like the most about this show is that there are no filler episodes (I'm looking at you here, walking dead). Even in the episodes without major happenings, like last night, the show still moves along nicely! Last night, we didn't have any major fights (Beric/Hound aside) but Rob formulated a new plan, Tywin laid out a new plan for his children and the plot chugged right along.

That was my long way of saying that this is the best show in the history of ever.

Good to see Rob take that guy's head off. That's what his dad would have done.

I was just reading a recap that talked about this same thing. As it rightly pointed out, this is Rob's problem. Ned was honorable and everyone admired him; his honor cost him his head. That type of moral decision is the kind of thing that will allow the Lannisters to keep kicking everyone's asss.

I don't think this was a decision made out of honor. He had a dilemma... he already let his mother go on the crime of treason, if he let Karstark off also, he would have looked weak. He really only had two bad choices to choose from. He was kinda focked either way.

This entire episode did a great job of exploring, "honor" and the perception of what is honorable.

Flame Brotherhood lets the Hound go because it's the "honorable" thing to do.

Jamie pleaded with the Mad King to step down before he slayed him "dishonorably"

Ser Barristan doesn't think Ser Jorah is honorable enough to escort Dany back to Kings Landing.

John Snow dishonorably breaks his vows with Igrit.

and on, and on, and on.

Who is right? Who is good? Who is honorable? It's all in the eyes of the beholder.

THIS is what makes this show so great, it's what makes it so authentic and rich.

Best line for me? Queen of Thorns:"What good is the word 'extravagant' if it can't be used to describe a royal wedding?"

It's an interesting contrast with Jaime and Selmy. Jaime is considered dishonorable because he killed The Mad King before he could burn King's Landing and all inhabitants to the ground, whereas Selmy's honor is considered beyond reproach because he served the Mad King without question. :dunno:

very good episode IMO...

minor booky gripe.

i kinda liked the sansa betrothal to willas more than the loras simply because it showed how cunning the tyrell's truly are... in the book they basically lead sansa on, as she believes she will wed 'margarey's brother' then when she consents they are like 'silly girl... you thought we ment loras??? pssh... you get our cripple willas."

the actress playing the queen of thorns more than makes up for all of that with her scene discussion the wedding with the imp...

keep on truckin

Last two episodes have been awesome.

Dammit, I like the Kingsla--er, Jaime--now. Sure he pushed a ten year old boy to his (near) death, but who amongst us is without sin?

It seems maybe we have the seeds of a Lannister rebellion against the family patriarch? G0ddamn I do love Tywin though, what an evil SOB.

I dom't trust Ser Barristan and I'm still convinced Margaery has something up her sleeve. Besides boobies that I want to touch.

It took this long for someone to give a  to Jon Snow for getting it in.

you know what happens in horror stories when the one moral/true person gets deflowered...

...problems!

still considering this...

the "previously on GOT" intro for this last episode reached way back to the bit about Ser Jorah being an assassin in the employ of the small council. And now Selmy is providing Jorah competition in Dany's camp.

Up 'til now, we've regarded Jorah as a pretty impeccable good guy - sure the slave story is in the background, but his words and actions and acknowledgement of his transgressions are pretty admirable. And when he actually stopped an assasination attempt, we really believed he was loyal to Dany.

But could he "switch"? If Selmy replaces him as Dany's advisor is Jorah not only heartbroken (seems clear that Dany means a lot to him) but also Lordless and outcast again? And if faced with that, would he assasinate Dany in as 1. revenge in a jilted lover sort of way but also 2. self preservation in a knight needs a lord/kingdom/loyalty kinda' way?

We've seen so many "bad" guys surprise us with their "good" actions (Jamie, Hound, etc) this would be the equal opposite of a "good" guy doing a bad thing and therefor maintain this balance that is so cleverly played throughout.

Also, Dany seems to be the new "Ned" - i.e. that one character who is truly good, right, deserving, etc. And the show makes me think that anyone in that role will be killed... so the catalyst for this thinking is that Dany's pretty great so there's no way she survives and cleanly, neatly, rightly takes the throne and returns peace to Westeros.

Peace in Westeros? Doesn't seem possible at this point. You might have a better shot at peace in the middle east. Way too many families want the throne to ever have real peace. And then you've got the god of light, the northern gods, white walkers, winter coming (long and terrible), dragons, etc.

I tend to agree. A good witty line here and there is great (that's why I love the half-man), but when that's your entire character? <_<

like i said its a combination of the writing, the character and her acting. its like every time they show her i think "oh great here we go, some more long winded, sarcastic, dry humor"... as of now, the character is basically nothing else. i know she has an important role but strictly from a dialogue aspect

that's half of the reason i like the character/writing... you can almost feel the other characters rolling there eyes, because she's known for being on inssufferable overbearing twat!

Other character: "oh sh1t... that old b1tch is coming... and she is going to bust my balls for no reason"

I get your point WhiteWonder - but like rallo said, that's how you're supposed to feel about her: "oh great here we go, some more long winded, sarcastic, dry humor". She's very rich, very important, and you have to put up with here cunning stuntiness just like every character that has to face her in the show.

So I was told at the beginning of the season that Dany would be naked much of the time. As the episodes go on and there is no nudity, I am getting more and more exciting thinking that the last 3 episodes of the season will just be her and her slave adviser going at it.

I'm thinking that HAS to happen. I mean, right?

I've said this before in this thread but her character emulates Katharine Hepburn's role in The Lion in the Winter. In fact, I would argue that Martin totally wrote this character with Hepburn's academy award winning role as Eleanor of Acqutaine in mind. If anyone has seen it please back me up on this, if you haven't seen it. Really good movie in a dialog driven style that came out in 1968.

I appreciate the Queen of Thorns, but have a hard time seeing past the lack of originality in the character at times.
