patweisers44 710 Posted May 3, 2013 Since this is kinda a wish thing, I'd like to retire to multiple places. Summers on Cape Cod and winters down south somewhere with great golf. My parents do it the right way IMO. Northern Michigan for 8 months out of the year and they have a place about 15-20 miles east of Key West for December-March. IGotWorms 3,430 Posted May 3, 2013 My parents do it the right way IMO. Northern Michigan for 8 months out of the year and they have a place about 15-20 miles east of Key West for December-March. Are they loaded? I've often wondered whether it's a reasonable goal for successful-but-not-rich people to have that kind of retirement.
patweisers44 710 Posted May 3, 2013 Are they loaded? I've often wondered whether it's a reasonable goal for successful-but-not-rich people to have that kind of retirement. I wouldnt say loaded, just did things the right way as far as saving, investing and not overextending themselves. Mom worked for public schools, stepdad worked for Ford for 30 years. Bought the property in northern lower Michigan 30+ years ago, built the retirement house on it.

TimmySmith 2,782 Posted May 3, 2013 Silver springs isn't bad but it's a hop skip and a jump from hood! Silver Spring is not an incorporated area and is very large. Parts of it are the hood, a parts are multi-million dollar homes. It has a large contiguous border with DC, and, yes, the name was the inspiration for the song "Silver Springs", by Fleetwood Mac. It also happens to be the corporate HQ for the Discovery Channel. That's about it.

Bier Meister 1,532 Posted May 3, 2013 How many days of skiing/year when you lived in the mountains? i was a chef and it depended on my schedule, but i was the old dude who only got up 50 times a year from 01-06 it lessened when we had a child in 06-11 to about 30 days per year. there were many days we all could have gone up, but were content relaxing around the house instead. I still have a five liter bottle in my office Prost! edit: one of my friends was stationed in hanau and i was able to get out to see him twice.... The first time it was my wife and i (my first trip to germany). first night in the f'er takes us to a place in frankfurt called "an american sports bar." later in zurich, he and his SO want to go to planet holleywood... that was kind of the theme when we were with them. i razzed him a bit about it for a while (still do now and then ). next time i went out with a mutual friend from hs. he stuck to much more traditional german places that trip and introduced us to kreuzberg.
