penultimatestraw 473 Posted May 3, 2013 Was Ann Arbor school or work? I currently work in that craphole. Training at UM. The hospital is great, but the town/surroundings were pretty meh IMO. I have a friend going to Detroit for cardiology and I'm having a hard time finding anything redeeming about the area. So far I've suggested checking out the UP, Mackinac, Cherry Festival in Traverse City…everything else requires leaving the state. And try a bunch of Middle Eastern food. Any other suggestions? jerryskids 5,436 Posted May 3, 2013 What about Andechs in Munich? Absolutely beautiful, and some of the best bier in the world! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ODxYVa1JWiw I went to an abbey out in Bavaria (Andechs sounds familiar) which I swear introduced me to the epiphany of real beer. Wilkes-Barre pa Cambridge ma Mesa az Chandler az Phoenix az I could see retiring in a condo in Scottsdale. Maybe a second place in northern az, but the wife and I like to travel so we'd prolly rent at different places.

GobbleDog 824 Posted May 3, 2013 Orlando, FL Born and raised. Just like my mother, my grandmother, and my great-grandfather. My great-great-grandfather moved to Orlando in the mid/late 1800's from Virginia. Unfortunately, my once small and beautiful city turned into a metropolis around the 1980's and is now full of crime and minorities. I'll probably move to northern parts of Florida when I'm really old.

Giants Fan 85 Posted May 5, 2013 Houston, TX San Antnio, TX New Orleans,LA Lafayette, LA New Orleans, LA A bagina that loves me. Me and 2 of my friends drove from Tucson to Baton Rouge to pick up a friend of ours who was getting out of rehab. Picked him up and drove him back to Tucson where he had some friggin support. His Dad was a real a-hole. Wrote him off early, but WTF is he gonna do by himself in Baton Rouge? Anyway ... by Arizona standards ... you LA guys are like retarded or something. This was the late 80's ... seemed like slavery was still alive in the south ... I dunno ... maybe it's different now. Now you got Mexicans too. That's bad, when the guys from Arizona are callin you rednecks. Youth in Baton Rouge thought we were punk rockers because a couple guys had bandanas on. We hadn't showered in a week. BLS 313 Posted May 5, 2013 Biloxi and Gulfport are one in the same. How did you end up there? Did you enjoy your stay there? On a map, yes. Living in them....hell no. Gulfport was the only town I've ever been in where they sold cigarettes out of a plastic cup for .25 each (back in 93), because the normal 'clientele' couldn't afford a whole pack. I had never lived in a 'ghetto' before, until I stayed in Gulfport. Once my cousin and I saved up some money, we moved to Biloxi. It's like going from Harlem to Manhattan. Mississippi isn't as bad as people make it out to be....but by god some parts are worse than people make it out to be. I worked at Casino Magic in Biloxi for a year or so. Lotsa hot kunt (even for MS), and no closing hours for bars....BLS was in love for a long time....but damn I will tell racism was (is) alive and flourishing in the south. Unlike anything I've ever experienced.

shovelheadt 62 Posted May 5, 2013 but damn I will tell racism was (is) alive and flourishing in the south. Unlike anything I've ever experienced. I'm stationed in Biloxi and finally allowed to go off base on the weekend. Me and a couple of black guys I went to school with decide to drive to a mall. We were sitting in the front of a pickup oreo style. We get pulled over by Biloxi's finest. Cop walks up to the driver's door, looks past the driver to me and says "You alright son?". Still love those areas but I couldn't handle the traffic any longer and much of the rest of the valley has become a cess pool. Great place to visit though. Unlike anything I've ever experienced. Gulfport and Biloxi were pretty bad places before the casinos. Worst fawking beaches on the planet. But they had a good fishing rodeo when I was twelve. Katrina wiped that place out. We used to go there when I was a kid every summer. I almost got areested once there when I was ten. I did my bestest Jaws interpertation. Was pretending that I was being eatin by a shark. Did the whole drama of acting like I was being pulled under by a great white. My friend was throwing water sand in the air making it look worse than it was . A hundred people were walking on water and picking their kids up rushing to the shore only to see my stoopid ass laughing. The Biloxi Police were going to arrest me and my dad beat my ass right their on the spot so they wouldn't.
