Magnificent Bastard 191 Posted July 28, 2015 why aren't you using the hillary clinton defense? If he sent texts to those guys, clearly they would have shown up on their phones.... So 50,000 texts of yoga routines, and cookie recipes were not needed. [/quote He should try the Hillary defense. The Aaron Hernandez method isn't working too well! Doh! Patriotsfatboy1 1,432 Posted July 29, 2015 They never asked for his phone. Welcome to the party, uh hum, counselor. People don't believe Brady when he says that he had no knowledge. I get that part. So, here is what I don't get. I don't get that Wells says that he just asked for Brady to supply the relevant texts and he would take him at his word. Really? You expect me to believe that Brady would give him texts that don't back his theory and that he will not say, "well, Brady did not give me everything"? Not buying it. Right, so he destroyed the phone. And maybe they wanted texts to other Patriot employees, like the head coach and the owner? I think what's going on here is a cover up, but it's not like you think. We only know what the NFL told us. The way this has played out, especially with Wells' insistance that Brady is guilty, and Kraft backing down so fast after he grandstanded at the super bowl about apologies and all that, there is more here than meets the eye, and I would wager it's not good for the Patriots. Patriotsfatboy1 1,432 Posted July 29, 2015 What 1000 other scenarios are plausible for destroying the phone the day he was set to meet with Wells? I try not to speculate on things, so this was what Tom Brady said about it (amongst other things): I also disagree with yesterdays narrative surrounding my cellphone. I replaced my broken Samsung phone with a new iPhone 6 AFTER my attorneys made it clear to the NFL that my actual phone device would not be subjected to investigation under ANY circumstances. As a member of a union, I was under no obligation to set a new precedent going forward, nor was I made aware at any time during Mr. Wells investigation, that failing to subject my cell phone to investigation would result in ANY discipline. Most importantly, I have never written, texted, emailed to anybody at anytime, anything related to football air pressure before this issue was raised at the AFC Championship game in January. To suggest that I destroyed a phone to avoid giving the NFL information it requested is completely wrong.
NewbieJr 541 Posted July 29, 2015 I try not to speculate on things, so this was what Tom Brady said about it (amongst other things): Just loving Brady's spin regarding the cell phone. First off, who destroys their old phone when they get a new one? I keep mine as a back up. It takes about 15 minutes to delete everything and restore to factory settings. So Tom's pr4cious vagina pictures would remain private. Also, Brady knew that the Wells investigation was going on. He also knew he was prepared to go the court if he didn't get his way. Does he really expect anyone to believe that it never occurred to him that there may be evidence on that phone? Brady wants to threaten the league and use court as his sledgehammer, but he wants to be 100% in control of what evidence is presented., LOL

This is more than something about 1 PSI. This is the NFLPA vs. Goodell's right to be judge, jury and executioner. Goodell has a lot to lose on this one and Brady is not one to back down on a fight with the league for the Union. I assume that you remember that Brady was the lead plaintiff in the big Anti-trust lawsuit back in 2011 that spawned the latest CBA. The NFL is going full PR on this (and they can), but it is going to court. The interesting part is that the NFL supposedly filed a preemptive suit in NY to keep the venue there instead of it going to Minnesota or Massachusetts. I guess the players union might want to make a point of not allowing Goodell to be judge, jury, and executioner the next time they negotiate. As it stands now, that's exactly what they agreed to. And despite the fact that Brady isn't one to back down, he's still going to eventually need to convince a judge that the four games is too harsh. And the fact that he purposely destroyed evidence makes his chances very, very small. Former lawyer and ESPN legal advisor Roger Cossack said the same thing. Brady doesn't have much to stand on. I said what plausible reasons...not what BS Tom is claiming that only blind Pats homers believe. He (and Goodell) did not say that he destroyed the phone that day. Both claim that it was "on or about" that date. I still don't understand the relevance. Brady was never going to give them the phone in the first place and could never be compelled to do so. Brady was already in communication with the NFLPA about it and they would not allow him to give in on that one.

Its ok...you buy his spin written by lawyers (does anyone call it their "phone device"?). The point is...he was asked to provide information (through his lawyers and agents) from his phone. He failed to do so...and when it comes to when he did give them some information that was very inadequate (the spreadsheet they are talking about now)...it was too late to provide anymore because he had just happened to destroy the relevant phone (now claiming it was broken...more complete BS to 90% of people out there). Its crap...its ok to take off the pats glasses for a minute and admit he is full of crap.
Sho Nuff 720 Posted July 29, 2015 This was just said perfectly on Mike and Mike (not legal guy...Bill Polian I think it was...so Im sure some won't agree with that)... KSB2424 3,148 Posted July 29, 2015 I for one, want Brady and the Pats to fight on. Agreed. This whole thing gives me great pleasure. 1. We get to see (again) how Roger Goodell and the NFL brass are judge, jury and executioner. Which is a terrible way to run anything for a variety of reasons. 2. We get to see smug ass Brady, who thinks he is above it all, dig his own grave by fighting this and acting all 'whoa is me'. When a simple "sorry, didn't really know the PSI thing was a big deal and I thought we we were okay, but my bad" would have resulted in a simple fine from the league. The bottom line is this is about trying to curb a rule around equipment to gain a small advantage. In the big scheme of things it's not a huge deal. But when you think you're shit doesn't stink and try to act all high and mighty and not be forthcoming, the league will drop the hammer. It's hilarious. Personally, I don't put any asterisks next to the Patriot Teams nor Brady. At the end of the day, we are talking about some air pressure in a football. I think the asterisk talk is a bit over the top. Now don't get me wrong, it gets Patriot Fan all in a fluster which I enjoy, but if I'm honest about it the asterisk thing is pretty stupid. Brady / Pats fault lies more in that they didn't just nip this in the bud and be done with it, but rather decided to go down kicking and screaming which has made this way worse than it needed to be. I think you're totally underestimating the advantage the underinflated balls give the Patriots. The fact that they didn't lose a single fumble by a running back last season (I believe I heard that stat when all this was coming to light), and that they lead the league in fewest fumbles as a team is HUGE. The turnover battle may be the biggest factor there is in determining wins and losses. Everyone keeps thinking this is limited to allowing Brady to have a better grip. That's only a part of it. When that reporter (can't remember who, too lazy to research) came out with some Pat's fumbles analysis before the Wells report came out, he was ridiculed by most people, including some on this board, if I remember correctly. Now post-Wells report, suddenly people's perceptions of the laws of physics changes. The analysis in the Wells report showed the volume change of a football is undetectable in the range of 10.5 - 13.5 psig (roughly, don't have the report in front of me), which means there would have to be an infintessimal difference in "squeeze" that the guy throwing the ball on a regular basis would notice. Catchability and "Hold-on-ability" would be much more affected by moisture, stickiness, etc, than a 0.5 - 1.0 psi deflation. Geez, some people are acting like the Pats were playing with a focking Nerf.

vuduchile 1,945 Posted July 29, 2015 Yes, let's continue to talk about PSI and the difference it makes. Let's talk about the CBA, and how sh!tty Goodell is. Let's examine all the possible reasons why he would have destroyed his phone. Let's question whether the NFL should have had access to the phone. Let's talk about everything except what is real. Brady cheated, lied, covered up, lawyered up and pussed out. No matter what the courts say at this point, he is forever tarnished. The Super Bowl win is meaningless and the Pats of this era will be remembered as cheaters. Case closed.
