Gepetto 1,461 Posted September 3, 2015 Thinking about picking up a new pair of sunglasses. These would be mostly for driving. Is it important to get polarized or not? wiffleball 4,797 Posted September 3, 2015 Just don't wear them on the brim of your baseball cap. That just screams douche bag. I was recently yanked into a golf tournament By The club owner. What the f***, its free food beer and golf. But, I kid you not, At least a third of the participants Had the baseball cap with the Oakley Sunglasses mounted on the brim, And some kind of neon yellow and/or Seahawk green Shirt. I wanted to kill them all.

Gepetto 1,461 Posted September 3, 2015 Just buy some focking sunglasses. It's not that hard I almost bought the Ray Ban's but decided to ask about it first. I don't just throw out $80 - $130 bucks on purchases without thinking and researching it first.

jerryskids 7,130 Posted September 3, 2015 I like how they all look but every time I click through one of your links it freezes that tab and this one. Not sure if it is my computer, ebay, or whatever else, but I can't investigate enough to judge. I kept trying because I'm in the market as well and I liked the price of all of your options. titans&bucs&bearsohmy! 2,745 Posted September 3, 2015 Polarized is a must. It really makes a huge difference. One thing though... polarized lenses will block you from seeing certain cell phone screens. Try it before you buy, I have to have prescription lenses in mine, so they are very expensive. I always buy Ray Ban personally, Lens color is really just about personal preference. I prefer brown/amber myself. Others like black or grey. Also, they make Ray Bans that fold into a tiny package. About the size of a pack of cigarettes. Nice to carry them around. Since I have to carry those, and my regular glasses, I don't have them.

frank 2,348 Posted September 3, 2015 1. Go to Walmart and choose the best looking $20 pair. 2. Make sure the lenses are dark enough so that you can stare at chicks without getting caught. 3. As mentioned above, don't wear them on your hat or in other way that makes you look like you want everyone to know you own a pair of sunglasses when you aren't wearing them. KSB2424 3,174 Posted September 3, 2015 The only accessories I spend any money on is a watch and a pair of sunglasses. I like the Ray Ban Wayfayers the best out of what you've posted. I prefer the tortoise shell color over the black. Polarized do make a difference and I've found are worth the price of admission. Just don't get the wrap around Oakleys with colorful lens's and crap. Whatever you do.

GobbleDog 1,011 Posted September 3, 2015 When I'm fishing I like polarized because I can see in the water. Other than that, I don't get what people like about them for normal driving. They don't do anything special other than make it difficult to read a cell phone.
MDC 7,956 Posted September 3, 2015 I have a pair of the Ray Bans wayfarer types or they're pretty close. I used to be one of those people who wouldn't spend more than $30 on sunglasses but the quality really is much better and the lenses aren't scratched at all a year after I bought them. parrot 790 Posted September 3, 2015 My advice, try some on. I currently have a pair of polarized Hobies. Had no intention of buying Hobies but they were really comfortable and I liked the lens tint. I only buy polarized but like Gobble that's mostly for fishing. My last two pairs were Ray Bans. Broke one skiing and the other is at the bottom of a river. Kind of decided I won't be buying Ray Bans anymore after the 60 Minutes story on Luxottica. Luxottica owns both Ray Ban and Oakley, as well as Sunglasses Hut, along with several prescription chains. They rescued the Ray Ban brand, but their market dominance is a huge part of the reason sunglasses are so ridiculously expensive. Also, about every 3rd sh!tty country song mentions Ray Bans these days and I won't be a party to that.
DankNuggs 305 Posted September 3, 2015 I have a pair of ray ban aviators with carbor fiber arms. Wish they were polarized they are 5 years old and I'll get a new pair eventually and make sure they are polarized

parrot 790 Posted September 3, 2015 better than putting them upside down on the back of your neck I usually keep mine on a strap/cord and I'm not a huge fan of the glasses on the hat thing, but what are you supposed to do when you're not wearing them, put them in your pocket? Also, the hat can be backwards and the glasses upside down and white and it's still not as dooshy as wearing aviators.
TD Ryan2 316 Posted September 3, 2015 I have Maui jim's, love them. ditto. I don't typically like wearing sunglasses while driving - I never feel like I can see as well. Maui Jim's changed that.. Best sunglasses I've ever owned.

DankNuggs 305 Posted September 3, 2015 better than putting them upside down on the back of your neck I also dislike the 'wear them on your massive forehead". Nearly as douchy as the back of the neck

Gepetto 1,461 Posted September 3, 2015 Here's a pic of the last pair of sunglasses Oakley's e-wire light/black rims oval shaped mirror lenses (not polarized) I bought that I've been wearing since I was in my mid 20's http://auctions.c.yimg.jp/images.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/image/ra165/users/9/7/6/7/sunflower2617-img600x450-1438386338tuymt725513.jpg They kind of let light in through the edges because the lenses are oval and not very big. I still have the original box, papers and receipt: with tax I paid $122.19 back on May 27, 2000. They retailed for $134.98. I recently bent them one time outward pretty hard on accident taking them off and now they're too wide and can slide right off if I wear them while I'm mowing. I do fish and boat so I will look into polarized lenses, hopefully they won't affect my ability to read my Jeep gauges and U-Connect / Radio / Nav screen. Still not sure what to get, thank you all for the suggestions and I'll look into everyone's suggestions. More opinions welcome too...
