WhiteWonder 2,999 Posted July 3, 2017 chicken breast smothered in teriyaki marinade. cook on a grill pan shred it into chunks (not like pulled pork but not actual cuts, I just hold the breast with a fork and pull with tongs) this goes on a plate drizzled with more teriyaki marinade (when its cold out of the fridge it has a nice glaze-ishness to it. served with a bowl of white rice mixed with a bit of butter and salt. ... yeah i love sodium same as above but replace the chicken with shrimp and replace the teriyaki with Mrs Dash Fiesta Lime seasoning. coat the shrimp in the seasoning and onto the grill pan. usually serve those on a bed of the same style rice Salmon again seasoned heavily with mrs Dash Fiesta Lime. gives it a nice heat. cook on grill pan again this I will serve next to brown rice Breakfast scrambled egg sandwich scramble eggs once scrambled up, get them into the center of the pan and cover with american cheese 3 strips of bacon scrambled egg/cheese patty and bacon goes on a bagel or english muffin

That and another go to for lent and otherwise is a brown butter and garlic pasta with broccoli. Throw in some chicken when having meat. Favorite though...BBQ chicken. Drizzay 758 Posted July 3, 2017 Risotto with truffle oil and parmesan. I make this for the wife and i when i want to get laid. Works every time. I do about 1.5 times the recipe: 1 quart chicken broth 1 tablespoon butter 1 tablespoon olive oil 1/2 onion, minced 1 1/4 cups Arborio rice 1/2 cup white wine 2 tablespoons butter 2 tablespoons white truffle oil 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese 1 teaspoon milk, or as needed salt and ground black pepper to taste 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley, or to taste Heat chicken broth in a stockpot over medium-low heat until warmed. Heat 1 tablespoon butter and olive oil in a large, heavy-bottomed pan; cook and stir onion in the melted butter-oil mixture until translucent, about 2 minutes. Add rice to onion mixture and stir to coat; cook and stir rice mixture until fragrant, about 1 minute. Pour wine into rice mixture; cook and stir until liquid is absorbed, about 5 minutes. Add 1 ladle of hot chicken broth to rice mixture, stirring constantly, until broth is absorbed. Continue adding 1 ladle of broth at a time until rice is tender but firm to the bite, 20 to 30 minutes. Mix 2 tablespoons butter, truffle oil, Parmesan cheese, and milk into risotto until fully incorporated; season with salt, pepper, and parsley.
titans&bucs&bearsohmy! 2,745 Posted July 3, 2017 I usually don't. I'm lazy. I do use the crock pot from time to time. I like coming home and having dinner waiting. Put a pork loin in there, cut up some potatoes and veggies, pour in a bottle of marinade. I was pretty limited in ingredients the last couple of years. Seems I may not have that problem anymore. jerryskids 7,194 Posted July 3, 2017 Scrambled eggs with cheese. The secret to scrambled eggs is to use a small pot/saucepan, not a pan, and stir continuously over heat with a spatula until wet but not quite done. To be fancy I throw in a handful of shredded cheese, maybe make some bacon.
Bier Meister 1,774 Posted July 3, 2017 I do not like eggs, but for scrambled I use either cream cheese, sour cream, or creme fraische. Top with chives Edit..... Truffle oil is a nice touch as well

Fireballer 2,693 Posted July 3, 2017 Almond milk Wtf is the point of almond milk? Its water. Anyway, I have about 10 or 12 good go to meals. Chicken and shrimp stir fry is my go to firehouse meal if Im strapped for time. Cooking for 10 people can be tricky. We have a legit commercial kitchen so its pretty sweet. I do it just like in the Japanese steakhouses. I also do pretty damn good pulled pork tacos, fish tacos (all Mexican has to have fresh pico and red cabbage slaw), baked ziti, chicken parm, fettucini alfredo, chicken marsala, philly cheese steak sammiches, smoked whole chickens or pork butts, grilled salmon and rockfish, buffalo wings, meatloaf and homemade mac n cheese, jambalaya, etc. Theres not much I havent at least cooked once in a firehouse. Oh, Sundays are the best. Brunch! Waffles, pancakes, and french toast all from scratch, fresh homefries, bacon, sausage, homemade biscuits and gravy, fresh fruit, omlet station, etc. Its basically an entire Cracker Barrel menu. I also try to cook with all fresh veggies as sides. Pretty much anything is available at a local farmers market. Brussel sprouts or chopped cabbage sauteed with a pound of bacon is probably my favorite. Best part of firehouse cooking is dont ever have to clean up. penultimatestraw 473 Posted July 3, 2017 Wtf is the point of almond milk? Its water. It has flavor, is nondairy and reasonably healthy. I usually get unsweetened vanilla-flavored, but you can taste a hint of almond. Cashew, soy, hemp, coconut and rice milk are also OK. The counter question is, what is the point of cow's milk? Higher saturated fat, cholesterol, sugars and calories than pretty much every alternative. It has more protein too, but animal protein is arguably not your best choice. The vitamin D and calcium are OK, but the nut milks can be fortified with these if desired. And a sh!t ton of people can't tolerate lactose.

penultimatestraw 473 Posted July 3, 2017 The thread turned, because most men don't cook for just themselves. Too much bother. I enjoy a home cooked meal, but don't want to invest the time to prepare and clean up. Especially not for just one person. Also, like a lot of guys, I can eat the same thing for every meal. I hang out with some "foodies" but convenience trumps just about everything else in my diet, as long as it is reasonably healthy.
penultimatestraw 473 Posted July 3, 2017 almond milk is good. the part of your smoothie post that i did not get was using almond butter in it.... do people put butter of any kind in a smoothie?!? Absolutely. It adds protein and makes the mixture more smooth. The chia seeds are the only tricky part of that recipe, as they can clump together and are a PITA to clean. But if you leave them unattended for a day or two, they'll sprout.

Right the only time I can think of adding butter to a smoothie is peanut butter in a protein smoothie although I pass on that. I make a lot of smoothies. 3 kinds Protein - whole milk (no pvssy 2 percent), bananas, berries, a little ice and whey protein. Green - baby spinach, kale, green apples, banana, some other fruits and veggies and for those i just add water Fruit - orange juice, ice, stawberry, raspbery, pineapple, banana.. anything really that goes well and add rum
