I wonder if after all is said and done if you can still make an insurance claim sans flood insurance. Â Â FEMA has a program that loans up to $25,000 to fix the basic amenities, kitchen, bathrooms, electrical, etc. I'm sure FEMA will also have to figure out how to house a million plus people. Ski, I hate to say it, but you may have to live with your family in a FEMA trailer if you decide to stay. I know a lot pf people who lived in them while they rebuilt their house and business. I wouldn't wish that on Wiff.

My mom renovates houses, as soon as the floodwaters recede she will drive down and we will gut everything. We can probably do it in 2-3 days. IGotWorms 4,058 Posted August 28, 2017 Jesus man, that's awful. Especially with the young family to worry about  Focus on staying safe and don't worry about your replaceable possessions for now. Sucks about the flood insurance but won't there be some disaster relief funds or other avenues for you to recover? Anyway don't worry about that right now either. Just keep the family safe.  Best of luck to you, we're all pulling for you

No flooding around my place, I was shocked to find out this morning that we had to evacuate. I think they are worried the levee that is holding back the brazos river will break, but I am still unclear about this.  I am still not 100% sure what is going on. Trying to find news about any of this is difficult. I no longer think they will flood our house at 3 pm.

wiffleball 4,790 Posted August 28, 2017 We had that major earthquake in Chengdu in 2007 and in the next couple of weeks we'd had so many aftershocks, like thousands, I'd said at the time that the ground was rocking so much that it was like being on a boat except I was sitting in my living room. Â And you're kind of like that, not that the effect that ground is rocking but in that you can sit on your dining room table and go fishing. That was 2008 wasn't it? I remember because that was on my birthday. Also, it was right after the Burma cyclone-hit. But hey, you're there, I guess you'd know.
