nospk 230 Posted August 15, 2018 Who is out there that you support and agree with? My theory is that most of the smartest, charismatic people want nothing to do with getting involved in politics. I really dont want to discuss that theory as much as finding out where the good political ideas are coming from. At any level-local, state, federal.

wiffleball 4,643 Posted August 16, 2018 Can we just take 4 years off of Congress and the executive branch? Clearly, our election systems are apparently compromised. But more importantly, all the important laws were passed long ago. Just shut the fuuck up and give us a break for a while. Alwas freaking amazing to me that we could pass all the most fundamental most important laws in our country's history with part-time lawmakers showing up for a couple weeks in Philadelphia every summer. But now that all the important shiit's been passed? Now we need like 500 times as many of them spending their whole God damn year in meetings. Tell you what, if something important comes up? Well call you.

Voltaire 4,562 Posted August 16, 2018 Among Dems, I like Jim Webb and Lincoln Chafee. In the GOP, John Kasich. Although not a poitician so much as a strategist, I also seem to agree with what Steve Bannon is trying to accomplish.

Voltaire 4,562 Posted August 16, 2018 I knew it. Ha, no. Having no party myself, I'm finding myself drawn more to the anti-establishment politicians of either party. It seems like the system only works, and we have such resentments against each side, because this set of billionaires and this set of billionaires hate each other. So yes, while there are big differences in the parties, neither of them really speak the language of the everyday person so much as the talking points of the donor class of either party. The Bush and Clinton families are really at the center of the insider political class in their respective party and have utterly no concept at all of what the people in Macomb County, Michigan or the rest of the Midwest are going through or what we want from our leaders. They just speak to the concerns of their donors on the coasts. Trump at least spoke the language of their concerns as he has a finger on the pulse of middle America unlike the elitists from either party caught in their bubbles. Trump may not be very ethical or the sharpest tool, but he certainly has his wits about him, has great instincts, and innately knows what ordinary Americans want to hear and what they want to see done. Voltaire 4,562 Posted August 16, 2018 Steve Bannon is waging a civil war against the likes of John Kasich. Kasich is the problem. I know. It may seem that I'm doing mental gymnastics here by combining a mainstream politician with a bomb throwing outsider who wants to bring down the house of cards. Kasich prioritized balancing the budget and made it happen which is my #1 issue overall even though no one else seems to care about it. So he gets mega-bonus points. If you look at most other Republicans, they combine massive tax cuts (always primarily aimed at the wealthy) with no offsetting cuts to programs that in effect blow up the deficit. That's not Kasihc. He always seems to be on the right side of issues I agree with. I guess, with me, if the mainstream GOP was along the lines of Kasich, I wouldn't feel the need to burn it down like I do with the Bushtards/McConnell/Ryan faction. Hardcore troubadour 12,656 Posted August 16, 2018 The Clintons are well aware of what's going on in the mid-west. They quit on those people (so did Obama) as they weren't a reliable vote as much as some other groups are. Some of them own a gun and others go to church. Plus it was Bills signing of NAFTA that was the cause of much of the economic downturn in those parts. The Clintons became elitiiats, and were much more comfortable on the coast than in the plains. People in the Hamptons and Malibu care more about co-ed bathrooms than jobs. Bathrooms are easy. Jobs aren't.
