It got pretty bad.  I'm a federal worker who fought the mandate and never got vaccinated. I paid a lot of attention to the segregate the unvax'd from society movement.  People we're saying some pretty horrific things.  CNN's Leana Wen was on air promoting not allowing the unvax'd to leave their homes or be allowed to see a doctor.  CNN !  This was a main stream idea.  

Even government policies that were coming out for unvax'd workers bordered on discrimination (may be a class action lawsuit in the works).  The government sure opened a can of worms with its covid response, mandates and propaganda.

Children lost 1.5 years of in person learning and we are seeing the results with testing scores down across the board in all grades. There is no "catchup plan" that learning window is gone and in 5,10,15 years those kids are now in the workforce with reduced skillsets.  So expect more burden on the back end of this. 

Childhood obesity, depression, suicide and drug use all accelerated during the lockdown and again there is no plan to walk to this back.  We're too focused on trans rights and other BS.

I don’t believe suicides increased among children in 2020 and 2021.  From what I’ve read they actually typically are higher during the school year than summer.  Not that that’s really a reason for zoom schooling obviously and we should have opened more schools during the 2020-2021 year (many did) , but it’s not a great argument against it.

CDC tracked both “with Covid” and deaths where it was the underlying cause on the death certificate.  Through the end of 2021, that # was around 90%+.  Starting in 2022 it quickly shifted to about 2/3.

This is from someone who has been critical of the government (who also shows that you are being disingenuous by cutting off the first paragraph which shows the NYT quote was only referring to “recent weeks”)
