I don't think this is correct.  In my state, there was a time we weren't allowed to leave the house except for work (and that was only if the employer was deemed an essential business) and going to the store for essentials.

Perhaps people weren't actually stopped, but it was a government mandate.

Like you said they weren’t stopped, but pretty sure it didn’t apply to people going for a walk especially if you didn’t have to drive to where you were walking.

We had to give all of our employees a signed letter that our company was deemed an essential business in case they got pulled over.  I don't know if anyone got pulled over...I didn't ask.  The highways were virtually empty.  I'll never forget that time.

ok I did not see that, what  if I live on the beach, I can't just go for a run then as the boardwalks were closed

I was going to post a  saying of course, fatties don't exercise as much and they struggle with Covid, but apparently they adjusted for that:

But you could still run or walk, HT.  Here in Phoenix in the summer, that means running in 110+ degrees in the middle of summer.  I imagine winter places had similar challenges with the elements.  But you could still run, the government didn't stop you!
