What’s for dinner?

Did that last night on the grill.  Grilled some squash, zuchini and peppers too.  It was 74 here before it started raining.

You could always throw a can of beans on or bake some tater tots.

I'll probably make spaghetti tonight.

Thanks much.  Had the tots last night with baby back ribs.  Awesome btw.  Going to grill some veggies and have baked beans too.

I don’t happen to like mayo.... so make a German potato salad.  Bacon, chive, dill, cider vinegar, mustard, and sour cream if needed

My mother made a fantastic German potato salad. She never ate it herself cause she didn't like it, but holy hell the family loved it. No sour cream in hers.

When i want to be more traditional, i omit it.  Throw it in every once in a while

Gotta be served warm, (not hot, not cold) but damn, that's good stuff.

I'm with you on the mayo.  The missus just made a similar potato salad but it used lemon instead of cider vinegar, and no sour cream.  Or bacon.  It was good, but she could have added bacon?

:D

Anyway, back to food, I pretty much won't eat potato or macaroni salad which is mayo-based; the wife subs in sour cream.  Or mayo on a sandwich.  But I'll eat ranch or caesar dressing.  It's kinda weird.  🤔

Aiolis I tend to like as well.  Basically "mayo with spices" I like; plain mayo, yuck.  Like I said it is weird.  :dunno:

Tonight was Texas Roadhouse night. I grilled steaks and the Mrs made Texas Roadhouse bread and butter from scratch.

*Not seen on the plate massive pile of green beans I ate first. I always eat my veggies first.

Yesterday we had ribeye with Montreal seasoning and artichokes with melted butter.  Pretty near my ideal dinner to be honest.  Tonight is szechuan pepper shrimp, not sure what sides are planned.  Tomorrow is moo shu pork stir fry; my wife is feeling like Mrs. Voltaire this weekend, only with good fake Americanized chinese food, not the real stuff.

Had steak tips and some potatoes with veggies. The best part was the neighbors had some fried clams and onion rings for an appetizer as we had a bonfire happy hour. The masks, sanitizer and lack of tartar sauce made it just less than perfect.

Steak kabobs

Cut some peppers onions and whatever else you like. Cube some steaks put on a stick and marinate in your favorite sauce. I used Italian for these

Takeout from a ramen restaurant. Contactless takeout and we boiled the broth a second time at home, so no risk.

Smoked a chicken and some potatoes.

If anyone is familiar with Port-a-Pit, I tried to come close to what they do.  It was actually damned good.

If anyone is looking for a new rub, try this out.  Holy hell!  I've used it three times now, twice on chicken breast and tonight on some thick cut pork chops.  Its phenomenal.

Pork is still on tap for dinner, but I had a cheat lunch day.  I've been craving an In N Out burger, left coasters probably understand.  Got a 3x3 animal style, plus fries extra crispy w/cheese.  I see no way I can avoid weighing at least 2 pounds more tomorrow after that.

Oh, and since you can't dine in, the drive thru is so popular that they created a Disney-esque line for cars to weave and navigate the parking lot.  Since they have a simple menu (my order notwithstanding), the traffic moves really quickly.

It’s a chili paste.  I prefer it to sriracha

Your mother had almost half a sandwich trapped in a fold between her navel and her nib. Wasn't bad when you included the funyuns. But it turns out the funyuns were just her vaginal calamari.

At least the marinara was warm.

We got take out from a local place. It was my wife’s choice on locale, so she went with a place with sangria to go. It was more expensive than the places we have been going lately, but it was pretty darn good. I had steak pizzaiola. Wife had chicken piccata. Kids had pizza and pasta. Also got some garlic rolls that were really good.
