Utilit99 4,099 Posted May 4, 2020 Cook out. BBQ should only be used for those with proper BBQ type facilities. Smokers mostly.

Reality 2,711 Posted May 4, 2020 When I'm using a grill? Yeah, I'm grilling, or we are going to grill out. BBQ is considered a type of food around my area. Not necessarily cooked on a grill. Mostly in a smoker but, not always.

vuduchile 1,941 Posted May 4, 2020 (edited) I’ve used all 3. BBQ is when I’m using the smoker and actually making a BBQ sauce as well. Edited May 5, 2020 by vuduchile I just realized one of the choices was "grill out" I've never said that in my life

I originally read the question as defining the event, in which case I think of it as a "cook out." We have a propane grill and not a coal BBQ (I don't differentiate those words necessarily although I know many do), but if we are going to cook something on the grill, we generally use "grill" as a verb. tubby_mcgee 691 Posted May 5, 2020 BBQ is for the hot shots. Grill out is for us laymen.
TBayXXXVII 2,215 Posted May 5, 2020 I call it a bbq and have heard many call it a cook out. I've never once heard it referred to as a "Grill out". I'm shocked to see that this is the current leader.

RaiderHaters Revenge 3,671 Posted May 5, 2020 I’ve only used bbq. Never even heard of grill out. Cook out is like a big gathering in a park or something

A big trade off is that she's very OCD. She always cleans and does the laundry and to top it off, I'm not allowed to do either. I'm just "required" to separate my clothes (colors/whites). She even bought me separate hampers. She's so OCD that she went as far as to buy me 2 hampers, one is white - for the whites, and the other is blue - for the colors. I get yelled at if something gets put in the wrong one.
