I felt the change inside me as I was eating it. I felt guilty for killing such an old fish.(12-16 years old when I was 21.) That was 1997. I have done catch photograph and release since. I was a catch and release fisherman until I moved to Texas and still catch and release many species of fish. For example I will not eat catfish, so it will be going back in the water. However if it is a good tasting fish like Mahi Mahi, snapper, or a good tasting fresh water fish like Walleye it goes in the cooler. I feel that recreational fishing is more humane than commercial fishing. It is better to eat what you catch than buy fish.

I assume chlorine can kill it?

Now that I'm always at home there isn't any difference. Sometimes on days off I'd catch a movie, but that's obviously off the table. My wife and I discussed using her brother's cottage on the Oregon coast, but part of the enjoyment is going to a nearby brewery for beers and dinner and that isn't an option. Driving 5.5 hrs for a little bit of chilly beach time while being stuck in another house isn't very appealing. Got ya. For me not much difference. I golf and grill each Memorial Day weekend. May take the Kayak out. Usually ending with a trip to my parents for burgers and potato salad Monday afternoon. Ive tried to avoid them during this time. But just hanging outside, will probably still do that. Very nice weather for us this weekend.

I know this statement is usually used for women/breakups however surprisingly it works well for fishing too, "there are plenty more fish in the sea". I understand if fishing a private pond or a small stream where the fish density is lower, but in a lake, bay, river, or ocean I do not feel to bad about taking some fish. The lake I fish has no inlet and not outlet. Its springfed and the fish are generational. Its like a really big pond at 14 acres. So what I take out is something my kid won't have a chance to catch. His moms side owns and entire side of the lake.

Not the fisherman you guys are. I fish rivers and lakes when I do. Ive kept and ate all sorts of fish one time or another. Ill throw the bass, pike, bullhead back. Ill eat the walleye. Thats usually all I fish for these days anyway.

jerryskids 5,415 Posted May 24, 2020 Did the Murph workout this morning, a Memorial Day weekend tradition. This is the biggest reason I'm happy our gym was able to open up this month. Quote "Murph" For time: 1 mile Run 100 Pull-ups 200 Push-ups 300 Squats 1 mile Run In memory of Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy, 29, of Patchogue, N.Y., who was killed in Afghanistan June 28th, 2005. This workout was one of Mike's favorites and he'd named it "Body Armor". From here on it will be referred to as "Murph" in honor of the focused warrior and great American who wanted nothing more in life than to serve this great country and the beautiful people who make it what it is. Partition the pull-ups, push-ups, and squats as needed. Start and finish with a mile run. If you've got a twenty pound vest or body armor, wear it. https://www.crossfit.com/workout/2005/08/18#/comments No vest for me, I may train for that next year. Finished in 42:31 which was 2nd out of about 20 from our gym in our heat (they spread things out into multiple groups for social distancing, also from a practical standpoint for pull-up bars). About 4 of the younger guys wore the vest (including the one who beat me), but overall not bad for a guy turning 53 in July. ETA: I forgot to say LOOOOOK AAATTT MMMEEEEE$#@!$@@#$@!
Bert 1,109 Posted May 24, 2020 What a great day today! Went to a local restaurant had margaritas and appetizers for a couple of hour. We are now sitting on the patio having some wine and watching the sun set on the golf course/lake. Having my dad over tomorrow, who is a veteran, and we will drink a scotch to both of my grandfathers that were veterans. I hope everyone has a great Memorial Day weekend!

vuduchile 1,941 Posted May 25, 2020 Built a raised garden on Friday and Sat. Planted tomatoes, cukes, squash, zucchini, green beans, cabbage, peppers and lot of herbs. Put together my new flat top grill and did a Benihana style meal last night. Steak, chicken, shrimp, veggies, fried rice. Turned out great. Just relaxing in the yard today. Sounds like the makings of a solid garden. We do one every year, but we actually plant in the ground. I’ve tried raised gardens and never had quite the same success. We planted Tomatoes, Cucumber, Zucchini, Yellow Squash, Green Beans and Jalapeño Peppers. In the past, we’ve planted green peppers, onions, corn and a couple others, but the results were inconsistent, so we went with what works every year. You’ll have to keep us updated on how the garden does.
