No. If you look at the Dow for example, it was at just about 31000 at 1:55. It then dropped a 171points through the end of the day. If the issue had not been resolved overnight, then it would not have continued on its upswing the next morning, but would have continued to go down.

The markets are completely detached from the economy and what is going on. The only thing that affects it is if the turn off the printing presses, Then it all completely collapses. Right now, that is 2024. Today we saw what happend when the threat of free money is threatened to be taken away when that Joe Manchin freak said the $2000 aint happening. Insta selloff until the higher powers told him, take it back or we will fock you up bad. he quickly took it back.

Simply panic selling. That was the massive opportunity for the big players to sell into that they needed. They all sold into the last few days before the collapse. It was way over due. Just google "Bill Ackman" and see what he did. Possibly the greatest trade in Wall Street History...and I hate the guy. Hell, I saw that sell off coming a mile away. 

There will be another one or more before the major collapse. We will see S&P 4500 before this falls apart, possibly as high as S&P 6000. But it will fall apart spectacularly. Everyone know it but they all believe they will be able to exit before it does.

Playing both sides occurred in the American Revolution.  George Washington was quick to denounce the Boston Tea Party.  But when they started arresting the people that did it, he quickly swung around the other way and said they were being treated too harshly. 

A parallel of course here is for Trump to denounce the storming of the Capitol, and then later denounce how those people were treated once arrested. 

You should also look up what happened to the people that signed the Declaration of Independence.  A lot of them lost their jobs, were hunted down, their families were harassed etc.
