Anyway, I'm 49 and half retired and will likely be in this situation for another sixteen years. I may retire here but if I do return, I imagine I would be looking to the reddest part of a red state. Some place where the magic that makes America great hopefully still exists. I am glad that I have become so tied in here though, as the US has passed me by. We just watch it dissolve. Everyone shrugs.I'm just so blackpilled and dejected. The country is just sinking culturally. The frog is being boiled. The biggest body blow for me was seeing them get away with rigging elections. I've said this before, but I don't think we are EVER coming out of this lockdown.  They will just transition from lockdowns due to covid to lockdowns due to fear of right wing unrest.  You will never EVER go back to a normal life.  We are in a police state.  Biden / Harris will probably roll out a plan to give everyone a monthly stipend from the government to buy basic needs.  You will do what they say when they say.

This is like how the Roman Republic collapsed into the Roman Empire.  They didn't just announce it publicly.  The Senate just quietly gave all the power to Caesar but didn't tell anyone.  They just acted like things were normal.  Slowly reality set in piece by piece until everyone realized the transition happened years ago.
