I've said it many times here...they're fighting a class war disguised as a race war.  This is no more about POC than the man in the moon.

LMFAO, Asians kick ass because they outwork others, Messicans tend to be hard ass workers too, so of course they are successful.

Rather than hate on them for being focused and effective, copy them, they have it figured out, and are kicking everyones arse.....south west asians are too.

They dont make excuses or look for how the world has wronged them, they simply relentlessly pursue.

Wait till our education system gets a hold of them for a generation or two. They’ll be brainwashed too.

Maybe, but the parenting is strong in those communities and they are NOT woke.  It takes weak (or none) parenting or woke parenting to ruin a child.

What a novel view. Hard work=success.  Who woulda thunk.

I was thinking the same thing.  Their cultural values are prob too strong to succumb to the wokeness. I mean, they haven't let exposure to lazy white people affect them too badly yet.

Not when they do away with standardized testing (racist) then your grades will be subjective, with the teacher deciding. Everyone gets an A. That’s the goal. Added bonus, teachers and their union get more power, and there will be no more bad teachers. Win-win. For them. Just like college.

Asians are Republicans, many just don't realize it. It surprises me that word hasn't gotten around in their community since all the Asian Americans I know are Republican. I think most are cowed though and avoid politics completely.

They value education and merit and Democrats do not, so this could really hit home for them For these Asian parents, maybe this will be a wake up call. There are non-woke places all over the country, vote with your feet.

I think the overwhelming majority of Americans are republicans.  They are just very uninformed.

Asians aren’t being held back to increase diversity because they are the diversity. In fact, schools make it harder for Asians because they outpace whites, not because they outpace blacks. But sadly, they use terms that make it seem like Asians are being discriminated against to increase black admission when in fact it’s to keep white schools white. When you base student admission purely on merit, white schools would become increasingly brown. This is a way to keep Asians from out competing whites, not to help poor dumb black kids.

You bumped an 18 month old thread for that?  I do agree that that principal is stupid and should have recognized the kids, but it doesn’t seem like that big of a deal TBH.  I don’t get the “it hurt their college admission chances” argument…their college admission chances are impacted by the score they got, not whether or not that score qualified them for some certificate

I just won the race to the bottom of my bottle.  The great thing about this race is that another one starts right after the previous one is finished.

The apparently top rated high school in the country seems like a weird example for someone to claim they’re “racing to the bottom”

It is curious isn't it.  Asians are a minority in this country, but since they are successful they have to be excluded.....

And an educational system rife with leftists is somehow holding ONLY African Americans back ....nooooo other minority seems to be "held back"......

Not sure why you all are focused on the Asian aspect of this.  The school is doing it for ALL the kids.  The school just happens to have a significant Asian enrollment, but they have other races as well.  This is more of a participation trophy issue as opposed to racial.  Leave it to Peenie to make it all about race though.  Racists gotta racist.

Can you aware me of what other minorities were brought here in chains and had to drink from separate water fountains all of 60 years ago?  Then suffered the next 30 years being excluded, discriminated against, and largely held back from anything other than manual labor.

That might answer your question.

You can hold on to that for as long as you like.  But that is not going to fix what ails the AA community. At one point in time very minority was put upon, what separates them? Culture. At one time AA looked to be fomenting a rather healthy culture, that is until government destroyed the burgeoning emergency of a healthy culture.

I don't disagree that the black community's culture could use much more emphasis on education and the nuclear family.  BUT remember, not even 60 years ago blacks couldn't eat at restaurants with whites in the racist South.  And blacks were denied jobs, loans, and education quite bigly up until 30 years ago or so.  Do you expect all that discrimination to be erased in a generation or two?

Why was Dunbar High School so successful, even before Brown v Board?

Family and community support.  What does that have to do with the price of tea in China?

Blacks faced hundreds of years of obstacles in this country and just because they're been treated like actual Americans the last 30 or so years y'all wonder why they're behind whites and other minorities?

It's mind boggling.

Without a doubt it is a very complex situation.  People think because we watch sports and see black athletes and some announcers, a couple of black reality shows that things are flourishing.  For those few things are.  For the majority of blacks things are actually worse.

In college I helped out at an almost all black HS.  The cycle of unwed teen mothers that keeps repeating is a cycle that has to be broken as studies show the teen mother and the child's chance of a successful life is very small, some do make it but again that is rare.  Add in the majority of these cases the fathers are not around that compounds the problems.

Look at school studies in urban areas.  In some all black schools we have HS students reading at a 3rd and 4th grade levels.  They get passed through and get out and can`t even fill out a job application.  Again much of this goes back to the home life or lack of.

The education problems are so daunting Right now even with advancements the majority are still generations away. For all of our sakes it needs to get better but that could take decades if ever.

Many things were true or not true 60 years ago. If all we do is lament what happened 60, 100, or 160 years ago progress will not happen.

In this nation you can absolutely erase such economic concerns in a generation or two. It is a topic that has been well-covered

If you imbue in people the importance of education, decency, community and hard work you get what you find in the Asian community......if instead you teach people they are put upon, cannot compete and the system is the problem.....you get the AA community.  Every other minority group has figured this out, and succeeds.  The solution is not that complex.

I'm not really sure why this thread got derailed to a discussion about race.  We have millions of threads about that.  This thread is about the constant lowering of expectations in the name of "equity" and how that is going to hurt us in coming generations.  We're literally watching society becoming dumber a little at a time due to bad policy and lowered expectations.
