2nd dose of PHizer this afternoon, hear it's 50/50 on side effects... hoping for the best, prepared for the worst.

Good luck.  Even what I had was tolerable just inconvenient.  Had to miss a day in the water was the worst of it and that is no big deal.

Got my shot---nurse told me if adverse side effects happen, it probably will start tonight.  Super efficient at the pharmacy today, 25 minutes total, and that includes the 15 minute allergic reaction wait afterwards.

Slept 13 hours last night and could have slept more. This mRNA has me run down.

Also a lot of those people have probably been isolating at least to some extent to prevent themselves from getting sick.  They want to get the vaccine so we can get back to normal.  The vaccine is the key to getting back to normal...isn’t that what everyone wants?

Was able to get around the age requirement in San Luis Obispo County and got the J&J shot on Sat. Felt like crap on Sunday, mild fever, fatigue, etc.

Woke up today feeling fine. Happy that I don’t have to schedule another shot.

That sucks, but you're not alone.  Besides, that's the body doing it's work.

Here's a good article that should boost your spirits: https://www.jsonline.com/story/news/2021/04/05/second-shot-covid-19-vaccine-unpleasant-some-but-works/7095244002/

I got my first Moderna vaccine shot yesterday.  I was really hoping for Pfizer.

My shoulder hurts, and I'm a bit tired.  Yesterday I had a slight headache.

Other than that I feel ok.

Maybe I'll take some tylenol.

don't think the short term side effects should be worrying anybody ... if ya want the jab, then man the fock up and deal with it.

case.  closed.

my big concern is the longer term side effects, of which we have zero data on, because we are nowhere near anything remotely close to long term - these have been bum rushed to distribution in a very "damn the torpedoes!" manner, methinks.

ya ever run across those class action huckster commercials, inquiring as to if you (or someone you know) suffered consequences (or even death) from any number of drugs/treatments?

those were once deemed "safe", too ... and were disseminated to the GP with full bug FDA approval.

not saying we'll definitely see a ton of problems and grave consequences down the pike here ... but you can't definitively say we won't, either :dunno:

from HealthLine:

>>> Because the COVID-19 vaccines have only been administered in the United States since December 2020, the long-term effects are unknown at this time.

Even though people have begun to receive these vaccines, studies will continue to evaluate their safety and effectiveness long into the future. These studies will also focus on how long the immunity lasts from the vaccines <<<

mRNA is made and used in protein production in all cells of our bodies. As such, cells have mechanisms in place to ensure that no protein is made in quantities greater than needed. One way this happens is that mRNA has a “poly(A) tail.” In the cytoplasm, this tail ensures mRNA decay. As the mRNA is used to make proteins in the cell, the length of the poly(A) tail decreases, until it is too short for the mRNA to continue being used as a protein blueprint. Once this happens, the mRNA breaks down and is removed as cellular debris. This process limits how long mRNA remains in the cytoplasm — and, therefore, how much protein is produced.

As such, poly(A) tails ensure that the cell breaks down the vaccine mRNA in a timely manner. Likewise, this understanding allows scientists to design vaccine-delivered mRNA in a way that ensures it does not stay in the cell longer than needed to generate immunity.

The result is you are left with anti-bodies. In the course of my life, I've consumed, ingested, inhaled substances that are probably have more detrimental long term effects.

My arm isn't too sore after getting the J&J shot earlier today, but it was certainly one of the more painful injections I've received.  Don't know if it was the shot/needle in general or maybe the gal at the pharmacy just wasn't the best.   She was Asian, though, so maybe she did it on purpose.

Regarding the vaccination card...  If this ends up being something you might need to show at some point then why the hell did the CDC make it just slightly too big to fit in your wallet???

We're gonna need that lot# to not be marked in red, please.

LOL, so the vaccine does nothing but Ivermectin is 100% effective?   You’re too funny.

I don’t doubt that Ivermectin could have potential, but if it was a miracle drug it would’ve been approved by now.   Meanwhile the vaccines have shown to be highly effective.

Ivermectin could have stopped Sars-Cov19 for less than $0.50 per person.  Yes, it is highly effective.  There are over 200 studies submitted for its approval.  NIH changed its recommendation from "no" to "can neither recommend or not recommend," which was an upgrade.

They say similar things in some countries about the Polio vaccine.   I played poker with two people that thin like you last night.  They went on about their opinion and I kept my mouth shut.  None of us knows sh1t about medicine.  I do not tell other people what they should do based on my beliefs unless I am an expert in the field.

I really trust my doctor.  Been going to him for like 15 years.  He spotted something insignificant once the turned out to be nothing.  He had his nurse call the specialist to get me an appointment while I sat there.  When she said it would be a month he He raised hell until the specialist would see me that day.  All was well but I trust this guy 100% to look out for me.

My sister is a surgical nurse at Cleveland Clinic and the doctors there were all trying to get their families shots before it was available to medical staff at the hospital.  She said it was pathetic but it showed how much they believed in the drug company.  If I gambled with the vaccine i would rather gamble with info from them than people reading things on the political forums.  Unless you are a doctor you are just regurgitating info that may not be based on medical info.

That's because the Polio vaccine in certain countries actually causes a Polio like illness, which is horrible.

I don't remember, I read about it a while ago.  I want to say some African countries may still have cases, but I don't know if they're still using the vaccine today that can cause it.  Quick google search and I found this https://www.who.int/csr/don/01-september-2020-polio-sudan/en/ stating it occurred in Sudan in August of 2020.

I did find this:  https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/vpd/polio/hcp/vaccine-derived-poliovirus-faq.html  and it states that the (oral vaccine) OPV vaccine (the vaccine that is very weak live virus and can cause polio) has not been used in the United States since 2000.

More information here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polio_eradication

Boy did that study fly right over your head.

(sorry, wasn’t expecting you to actually be criticizing a covid vaccine denier)

You are such a moron.

Israel's largest healthcare provider? The South Africa variant of the coronavirus affects vaccinated individuals more than those who are unvaccinated, according to a new study from Tel Aviv University and Israel’s largest healthcare provider.

Can't even come up with your own comeback so you use the one I dropped on your pea brain. I got more for ya. The J&J vaccine is now joining astro zeneca.

Per usual, you are misinterpreting the study.

Here it is: https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2021.04.06.21254882v1.full-text (worth noting that neither the Washington Examiner nor Fox News actually linked to it that I could tell - the Washington Examiner linked to Fox News and the Fox News article had a hyperlink for "study" which just went to their "Science" page...I found the actual study through CNBC).

Yes, the conclusion of the study was that the (Pfizer) vaccine did not seem to work as well against the South African variant.    Basically the only data they looked at was positive tests, so it's very likely the reason that the South African variant was more prevalent in vaccinated individuals is simply because the vaccine was more effective in stopping the other strains, not some stupid claim like the vaccine makes people get the South African strain.   The authors even say they didn't measure the infection rates  -

Our study design was not intended to deduce vaccine effectiveness against either variant, since we observe VOCs conditioned on infection, and do not measure absolute infection rates in the vaccinated or control population. Thus, we can only cautiously speculate on vaccine effectiveness against the B.1.1.7 and B.1.351 strains from these dates. Previous real-world work has shown a very high effectiveness of the BNT162b2 vaccine starting a week after the second dose [1]. During the period of the latter study, B.1.1.7 likely rose to a high frequency, suggesting high vaccine effectiveness also against this strain
