Teacher takes elementary school kids to a gay bar

Name calling, seems below an upstanding centrist like yourself.  :(

But you are correct, I am jumping to conclusions based on their “dog ate my homework” level story about the menu.  I should know better than to question when I’m told something is misinformation.

If you are going to be a condescending a$$ to me I will be one back. Deal with it.

Also, putting a lot of pieces together to make things add up.

I'm lost trying to figure out what you are asserting here. There is no alternate menu? IF that was the case, don't you think somebody would have made a case about this years ago, rather than after a decade of taking kids to this restaurant?

No, I think it is an issue because it got out into the Twitter sphere and conservatives in the general public are making it an issue.

I would like to differentiate between being gay and the gay lifestyle. For the record, I have no concerns with educating children regarding homosexuality at the appropriate age (with parental consent).  I have some concerns about exposing kids to menus with poorly veiled sexual innuendos.  That’s the only thing I’ve mentioned.

big difference in visiting the blue oyster bar or birdcage at happy hour, vs a gay friendly restaurant and bar.  They aren't all flamboyant.

That’s true.  I’m wondering, what makes something “gay friendly”.  Is it the wall to wall rainbow lighting?  Or menu items like “Rhoda Cowboy?”

What word or phrase do you use for places like the birdcage, and where does one draw the line between that and gay friendly?  :dunno:

Are there restaurants that are not gay friendly? And what do they do for the gays to make it friendly?

What I was questioning was why you believe that they used the menu with the sexual innuendos rather than the 3 item menu made for the field trip?  Maybe I missed something, but I haven't seen anything that says the normal menu was used.

And if it wasn't used, and the 3 item student menu was used, would you have any opposition to this 'math in the real world' field trip?

There are places that just welcome g/l etc clientele at face value.  some put up a visible rainbow.

Then there are restaurants that target the market and decorate accordingly.

If the teacher/school brings them into a relatively neutral restaurant...no mention of g/l.    they go along with their day... maybe learn some industry info. order lunch. learn how to pay/tip.  I think is positive for society to see that normal is normal, regardless of being gay. the world is not black and white.  they do not (and should not) be pushed into a small corner.

Make sure you don't ever take a child shopping for fishing tackle.  You should see the names of some products.  Reaction Innovations is a company that is well know for their lure and color names.

Makes you wonder where the line is with the libtards is around here. Covering up a rape and denying it even happened doesn’t seem to be. Hard to believe we all were brought here for football at one point. I would like to think I have nothing in common with those types.

I’m struggling to correlate your first two sentences to my question.  Your second sentence describes the restaurant in question.  :dunno:

i went onto their website, and checked out their reviews and pictures on Yelp.

lunch looks pretty sedated.  I believe they rotate/change decor at night.  Maybe 20% of their regular menu is risqué (regardless of gay vs straight). There are risqué signs around the restaurant.  Outdoor seating is pretty neutral.

with certain modifications, this could be a fine location. I do not have insight into what arrangement were made besides the menu change.

I don’t mean to be rude (which is code for I’m about to be a little rude probably) but… this whole side conversation started when I said I had concerns with exposing young kids to the menus with sexual innuendos.  You replied by trying to differentiate birdcage and “gay friendly.”  Your definitions of them then made no sense, and now you are providing a play by play of their web pictures.  I don’t know what your point is in all of this, other than I think your conclusion is that the restaurant is fine for kids.  :dunno:

Thanks for pointing out how easily naive people have been the victims of misinformation during the pandemic

No that's not the issue here. The story is about taking elementary school kids to a gay bar.

The article mentions the menu so you people know it's not focking Cheers. NOBODY is talking about the menu. That's not the issue.

Then uou come in with "FAKE NEWS The kids never got the menu." As if that means fock all! Nobody focking cares they didn't get the menu. THAT IS NOT THE PROBLEM!

Oh, but the kids didn't get the menu. Thank God! No problem taking elementary kids to a bar let alone a gay bar is totally fine so long as they don't see the menu.

why do we even have to get to the point of making arrangements?????????????? kids field trips shouldn't be to any bar!!!!!!l. and a gay one just make it worse. whole thing is just asinine and really can't believe there's people defending it. it's like bizarro world. more and more everyday.

Hard to say.  The menu was the one item I know about.  If for instance the waiter came out in tight leather shorts with a hole for his cack and balls, I would oppose that as well.

What I think we’ve all learned in the posts since yours above is that “gay friendly” is a spectrum.

I need to head for a little while, I’ll be back with more later.

I think there is a spectrum for what is and what is not appropriate for different ages.  I also believe that some can be modified.  This place looks like it could easily become kid friendly… but I do not know all of the arrangements made.

I just don’t think we should jump to “gay bar” and blue oyster.

No it’s not. It belongs on any of these threads where immoral partisan hacks come to white knight for lqbtq at the expense of kids.  How about we let them have a childhood without this bullshit?

The “libs of tik tok” tweet put the menu right under the board member’s tweet, clearly making it seem like that was the menu they were given.  Many of the twitter comments mentioned the menu, and in fact the menu seems to be jerryskids main concern with this incident.  So yeah, it seems like the menu is at least part of the issue for some of the people that have a problem with this.

Well it seems the parents are the ones deciding to do this (and to live in “Florida’s most LGBTQ-friendly town” in the first place), so I think your issue should be with them, not the school.

So if the parents are a-holes the school system has to play along? As if any parent that did object wouldn’t be raked over the coals.

Definition of  "To not see the forest for the trees"  : to not understand or appreciate a larger situation, problem, etc., because one is considering only a few parts of it.

Ya'll over here debating for pages about if the menu was there or not.  Or if this bar was a gay sex bar or just, you know, sorta-kinda ghey friendly.  JFC.

Public School, especially freaking elementary school is not a place for teachers - administrators - school board to throw in their little social / culture  agendas.  Parents send their children to school to learn math, science, language arts, history, etc.  They shouldn't preach religion in public school nor should teachers try and social engineer students with their private little culture pet projects.  This is just another example of damn near a million one can point to.

You have school boards covering up sexual assaults.  The current Governor of Virginia flat out said Parents should have NO say in what schools teach their own children.  It's why he's in trouble of losing his seat in a blue state....even moderates are like "Wait...Wut?"

So keep on arguing over semantics and tid bits all the while missing the bigger picture.  Jesus what a bunch of dumbasses.  🤦‍♂️
