I read that as she sucks at her job and didn't deserve 20%.

Advise her to do a better job next time.

You are supposed to only tip on the pre-tax amount...

I tip on the total,  but yeah, why should the tax be included on the tip? What did the waitstaff have to do with that?

just seems awful cheap to dig into it that much. The tax was 2 bucks. if you can't afford the 40 cents, stay home

I paid for the food and service, I am not paying for a tax...  Why pay for something that I didn't order?

Also, there are a lot of restaurants out there that if they add gratuity in for a large group, the tip is calculated from the pre-tax amount...

I have a different opinion. You are a dumb ASS if you tip 20%or more.

The large group gratuity as absolutely calculated on the pretax amount.
Contrary, I’ve noticed that places who list the suggested 15, 18, 20 (sometimes even 25%) tip, do so off the total bill.

The worst thing a restaurant can do. Large group tip

Great point!  (no offense taken)

I really made the thread about Farrell being in my home town (again)  and by calling him cheap, he should have tipped minimum of 10

I guess he's sort of famous?  But google says his net worth isn't much, less than mine.  My regular tip for that would have been $6 or $7 unless something exceptional happened.  :dunno:

Just after the government lifted shutdowns we did go out and regularly tipped 50% or more though doing our part because we knew times were tough.

I don't see the issue.  She's not one of those kids who thinks her student loan should get forgiven, is she?

I'd tip her nothing the next time if I knew $6.00 tip on $34.20 includes tax is considering me cheap.  Fock that.  You're the problem, not the tipper.  People that guilt shame people on their tip amounts especially when it's good, well they should make a South Park episode about you.
