Cloaca du jour 2,147 Posted December 17, 2023 Education is dying due to complete disengagement by parents who think school is like it was 30yrs ago. They get snippets of news feeds and facebook posts. Have never attended a parent teacher conference...never question the fs on report cards. School administration just does whatever to keep parents from suing, as well as keeping that 150k a year job for doing nothing.

I mean dying as good old true education...designed to make productive americans. Education is a hollowed husk of what it used to be. It has been so poisoned by all these "scams" that cause districts to spend 1000s chasing the dragon while out of touch parents. See how many kids know their times tables...can read a clock with hands on it. Its all smoke and mirrors now. Grades are more important than actual learning. RLLD 4,143 Posted December 26, 2023 Education can still work for you, but you have to put in the work as well. As a parent you cannot sit back and believe your child is being properly education, you have to be actively involved every day with them. Spending time with them and helping them learn is more important than sending them to school. If you sense your child is not being properly instructed then engage with the teacher respectfully to learn a little more. If it becomes clear you do not have quality instruction being provided for your child request a change with the school, and if they refuse then you have to step up even more. Moreover, if you get some sense that they are indoctrinating your kid then you have to counter that. Help them understand how to placate the activist teacher, while you teach them properly. If you have to change schools....as much as that might suck, try to do that. Kid deserve our protection. From criminals, predators, government and activists. RLLD 4,143 Posted December 26, 2023 US companies increasingly eliminate college degrees as a requirement amid 'out-of-control' school costs This could help lower costs, I see it as a plus. And if it eliminated many of the more "woke" ones then we can all see more than just financial improvements.

Most corporate jobs can be taught without any formal secondary education. And businesses that hire HS grads without a college degree will probably have a more loyal workforce. They’re also drawing talent from the 60% of adults who don’t have a college degree.

Parents hand their kids off and assume "it will be done"......which is farcical..... Being a parents often means hours of instruction each night. The kids who receive this "privilege" out perform those who do not have this. But beyond the academics is teach them life as well. How to not be a dumbass, how to avoid simple mistakes, and then how to manage money, invest, handle civics etc. If you want the biggest bite for improvement, parents are the key

The teachers and their union rightfully are terrified of the idea, as it would ultimately hold them accountable.... BUT......school choice would have to bring with it special accommodation for the damage done. We would simply HAVE to include additional funding for the gaps created in progress by poisonous parenting and an educational system that has lost its way.
