I almost posted the following earlier today.

As a Pittsburgh fan, I have never worried about cleveland getting a good player. If they take someone, either he sucked to begin with or they will make him suck. They are a joke franchise.

The picks are what you’d expect for a 26 y/o franchise QB. That contract is insane. :o

I hope Mayfield goes to the NFC and kicks ass. Would have loved to see him playing for the Redskins. Too late for that. Stay away from philthy though.

Yep. That’s a lot of $ to gamble on a sexual predator.

They can just go along with it and then sue for money later.

Short of having a generational player I'd trade anyone to a sh1tty team like the browns. lions. jags etc... for 3 #1s

Yeah, nothing will happen and they can all get together and sue with zero evidence from any of them.

I bet the #1s will be in the mid 20's at the least for Houston.

Curious has trading three #1s ever worked for the team doing it?

They won 8 games with Mayfield last year.  I think they win 10-11 with Watson

Not sure honestly. But don't first round picks only hit it big at a 60% rate? :dunno:

And they aren't in the top 10.

NFL spokesperson Brian McCarthy released a statement saying the Deshaun Watson trade has "no effect" on the league's ongoing investigation into sexual assault allegations against the quarterback.

A grand jury declined to indict Watson last week, but he still faces 22 civil cases regarding alleged sexual assault. "Any transaction would have no effect on the NFL's ongoing and comprehensive investigation of the serious allegations against Deshaun Watson," the statement reads. "If the league's investigation determines that Watson violated the Personal Conduct Policy, discipline may be imposed pursuant to the policy and the CBA." The Browns and Watson have set up his contract as if they anticipate a suspension, setting the quarterback's official salary at $1 million in 2022. He reportedly received a $45 million signing bonus as part of the new deal.

No NFL team has ever traded 3 first round picks in one deal before.  The Vikings had a condition on the Herschel Walker deal to include up to 3 first round picks, but they renegotiated the deal to avoid that.   But as I say, the Browns have 4 RBs, and it would make a lot of sense to package Baker + Hunt or Chubb to get picks back including a first rounder.

When my Dolphins were talking about trading for Watson last year and word got out that the Texans wanted 3 first round draft picks, I thought they were just blowing smoke for negotiating purposes. I never would've believed a team would actually agree to that, especially considering Watson's issues.

But then the contract of $230 million?  The Browns didn't have much cap space to begin with and even after they trade/release Mayfield, they'll still have to tinker with the payroll to fit him in. And FULLY GUARANTEED for 5 years?  Talk about betting all your chips on one card.

A player who hasn't taken the field in over a year, still has 22 civil lawsuits hanging over his head, and a possible NFL suspension.  I don't understand how the Browns can possibly justify it.

There are a lot of pieces of sh!t in the NFL but its tough to root for your team when the face of the franchise sexually assaulted over 20 women (allegedly). They're banking on people not caring as long as they win. It worked for the Steelers, so they're probably right.

What proof is there? No charges.

I get it. But the fact that only one came forward and someone urged the other 21 to get on board and out of 22, not 1 had any credible evidence?

I just can't take sides on this one.

Hell, why didn't the women simply walk out of the room the instant he showed his wanker to them? If he did that. Then ban him from the place. Something is just not right about this. Who knows, he is black, so maybe he's a shltty tipper and they wanted to get back at him. I've worked with black waiters in a couple restaurants who hated waiting on black people cause they generally tip like shlt.

Skins trade for Wentz gets cheaper and cheaper.

Browns know they will recoup some picks with Mayfield.. Wish the Skins would have waited for Mayfield. He is an effective starter that gets very little credit. And he should be a bargain.

Cle. Just dug a hole they wont get out of for at least a decade. They will find out how bad this guy sucks. Holds the ball to long and they will have no picks snd no $ to repair the damage they just inflicted on the franchise.
