Nothing on the Texas School shooting?

Maybe it’s just regency bias but AR-15s seem to show up a lot in major shootings: Uvalde, Sandy Hook, Las Vegas, Orlando / Pulse Nightclub, etc.

They started showing up more often after it was brought to light that they are almost never used in any sort of crime.

Other than mass shootings.

That's a relatively new phenomenon. AR's have been around for decades. We've only (relatively) recently seen an increase in their usage to commit crimes of any kind, including mass shootings.

I think it’s more likely than not that several of these shootings have fewer casualties without automatic / semi automatic weapons.

That’s the one where a bunch of white people got killed at a country music show?

Apparently not this last one. Dude had plenty of time to reload a revolver as many times as he wanted.

So? Next week’s mass shooting may be different.

good lord man, nobody has used an automatic weapon

and unless you have shotguns or revolvers they are all semi-automatic

I swear arguing with people who know nothing about firearms is ridiculous

Probably thinks AR-15 stands for assault rifle.

You’re right I don’t. I do know weapons that can shoot off 100 rounds per minute or whatever have no legitimate self defense purpose and your right to play GI Joe infringes on other people’s right to public safety at some point.

I think you’re the guy who said we have universal background checks right?

All schools should be a fortress so some gun collectors can play Rambo. :bandana:

How about the staff just locks the doors? What am I saying? Same crew that thinks walls don’t work.

Remember when you could accompany a loved one to the gate at the airport, sit and visit with them until they had to board?

I do. Those were good times. But some dickhaids focked that up for everybody. Kids shouldn't be immune from safety measures enacted to keep them safe. They'll get used to it, like seatbelts and bike helmets.

we do have universal background checks

please enlighten me on which gun fires 100 rounds a minute, I want one

A semi-automatic like the Bushmaster AR-15 XM15-E2S has a maximum effective rate of fire of 45 rounds per minute

I have a theory that right wingers propose this stuff because they know it isn’t feasible and will never happen. It takes the focus off our lax gun laws and gives the impression of doing something while doing nothing.

k please go buy a firearm

Under current federal law (the Brady Act), federally licensed firearms retailers must run a background check through the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) – National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS)1 on the buyer before transferring the firearm (new or used) to that individual. The retailer must conduct the NICS check regardless of whether the transfer takes place at the licensed premises or at a gun show. Our industry has long supported the current NICS background check system.

And if the gun is being sold by someone who isn’t a federally licensed firearms retailer?

then its illegal

now where it comes into play is here

Some members of Congress and gun-control organizations now advocate expanding the Brady Act to require background checks for every firearm transfer in the United States between private citizens, whether it is a father passing his shotgun down to his son, a grandfather giving his granddaughter a Christmas gift of her first rifle, two private collectors transferring a rare and valuable firearm from one collection to another or loaning a friend a rifle or shotgun for a hunting trip.

please show me when that has lead to a mass shooting

https://www.nssf.org/government-relations/factsheets/universal-background-checks/

here you can read this yourself, this is the reality of your so called "universal background stuff", as well as the alleged gun show loophole and any other questions you might have

Why isn't it feasible to make schools more secure?

So there is no federal law requiring a criminal background check on private gun sales. Took a while, but we got there.

There are around 130,000 of them in the US with millions of teachers, staff and students entering and leaving all day long. Are you thinking high voltage fences or something?

Most Midwest and Eastern schools are indoor, no? Those would seem to be easy to harden.

The schools in the South and West would be a little more difficult but it's completely feasible.

$40 Billion could've done it easily.

Moreso that trying to confiscate 400 million guns. And don't fool yourself, that is the end game for Dems.

That’s not my endgame.

I can’t imagine having airport type security at every school in America but that’s where we’re at now I guess. Sad.

to be clear, you think I should run a background check on a collectible firearm

again show me when a passed down firearm has been used

I just wanted to clarify that you do know a criminal background check isn’t required on every gun sale. After a lot of semantics bullshiit we finally got there. 👍🏻

If parents were more involved in their children's lives maybe they would stop shooting up their schools. :dunno:

Pretty much every pistol, and every non-bolt action rifle or shotgun, is "semi-automatic".  It might have been said already, but have you thought about what you feel has no legitimate self defense purpose?  The scary sounding AR thingies?  :dunno:

I do know that when you scream background check, nothing anyone talks about actually would have accomplished anything

I do also know if I give a gun to someone who commits a crime I am responsible and am all for reporting it as most responsible gun owners do

I have sold 5 firearms thru a gun dealer and thats what happens, including a background check

when it is not necessary is when I am giving a firearm to my son

Yet you have it at every ballpark and courthouse. Bridge too far to protect children I guess.

Oh good because ARs only do about 45.

@MDC thinks it's egregious to ask teachers to not prop open back doors to go out to their cars for a drink or to get high.  The better solution is to eliminate practically all weapons and become Canada.

There is surveillance footage reportedly that shows that a teacher did not leave the door propped open and shut it behind her once she heard gunshots. She saw the crash and got her phone to call for help when the guy started shooting at people.

It took me 4-5 posts to get Raiders to admit a criminal background check is not required on all gun sales.

The juice just isn’t worth the squeeze. 👍🏻

Destruction of the nuclear family creates many, many break downs in society. The only solution the left wants is more top-down authoritative control.  Hmmmm.....🤔
