I was listening on the radio and DeSantis cut off the question that was raise your hand if you believe we can impact climate change (or however it was worded) so didn’t see if anyone raised their hands.

None of them answered and all deferred to talking points. 

In any case this answer from Vivek is very “Trumpish”. Say something outrageous and then get air time nibbling around the edges of it when followed up. Complain about the media coverage when they ask for follow up. We’ll see if that occurs here. I have watched him do this in an interview on anothe subject.

It was your typical BS talent show. Although he's not my cup of tea (corny & fake) Ramaswamy clearly stood out. He could actually turn some moderate Dems. He's the Hindu Obama If that makes sense. 

Being from SC it's the same crap from Nikki Haley, she's just a talker, despised in her own State. Desantis is done, he spun himself out immediately, Pence is an idiot and I'm not even sure why Christie wasted money on a plane ticket. 

I like Tim Scott a lot (another from SC) but he's just too nice and honest to be a politician. The Left will call him an uncle Tom, he's actually very smart but awkward at times. His buddy Trey Gowdy would make a better candidate. 

 

These things do have a trainwreck factor but are fun to watch and see how people react for in a small window of time. 

I’d compare Vivik much more to a Trump knock off. Doesn’t have Obama’s hope and changing schtick or calmness. Likes to troll as well.

There is a lot of rehearsed lines. If you don’t watch though you miss out on subtle little things, get to see the cringy moments, or get your own read on people. Asa Hutchinson for instance will get zero coverage, has no chance but if you are an old school conservative he was very good.

One person went to raise their hand, the old dude.  Vivek is trying to act like Trump.  His plan is to either get the VP, or if Trump can't run, then to be the nominee, and he's trying to just step right into his shoes.

If he cleans it up a bit I think he'll gain traction going forth.

Please do. I concur that Biden will avoid the debate.  But consider that Trump just gave him that "out" by avoiding the GOP debate.  It makes perfect sense for Biden to avoid the debate and he can easily portray that act in such a way as to energize his supporters as well.

Presidents rarely(if ever) participate in nomination debates, but I'll be surprised if he skips the Presidential ones.

I completely support Biden's position to not have some debate with others challenging him for the nomination.  It would be inane to do so.  I would never suggest a sitting President hold a nomination debate.

I think this time around it makes more sense for him to avoid a Presidential debate. It might be true that he still has just enough mental capacity to be adequately coached, but if we see him avoid the debate that is sorta telling.  Plus he can redirect.  HE can portray it in a way that suggests HIS avoidance is viruous, and in the same breath portray Trumps avoidance as cowardice, and we already know his supporters will eat that up.

What I learned last night after watching the people on the stage is that considering the fact that all of them can form a complete sentence, no one stumbled or feel, and nobody took a nap, and none of them will have Kamala as a running mate, every one of them are better than what we have now.

One thing I will say is that, other than Vivek and Ron, the candidates were generally quite principled, and honest.

I don’t agree with a lot of their positions (though I do agree with some), but I give them credit for not trying to spin or hide them
